u do know that pc games are always at least 5 steps ahead right? PS3 couldnt even scratch the surface of what my pc could do. consoles are fucking up pc gaming because they're toning everything down, and since developers prefer to develop for consoles (because thats where the money is) we get shitty ports with shitty graphics and controls. basically put it this way: its pc games like crysis that raise the bar, so if anything its the consoles that try to compete with pc games, pcs just get less because theres less money being made (pirating, etc)

Crysis came out in 2007

and to date, there isnt a single game that looks as good as Crysis does

theyre catching up but theyll never surpass pc games because its the pc developers that set the new benchmarks. at most consoles will be equally powerful for about 3 months. i play on everything, i have a 360 ps3 and a baddass pc i just built, my graphics card is already out of date though and i build this pc a month ago :\

and i wouldnt say pc gaming is DYING, it'll never actually die, it just doesnt sell as much because its a way more exclusive market, for high end games at least because my pc was worth about $1,300 when i built it and while i can run crysis at very high with directx 10 it just barely stays steady at 50 FPS. xbox would need to run it at medium/low settings to even try to run it at 20 FPS.

i have killzone 2 and uncharted 2.. im not saying they have shitty graphics, but they would be 10x better on a pc. seriously. pc could run it at higher resolutions, anti aliasing, more AF, higher rez textures, and now directx 11, and on top of it all higher framerates. the thing with most console games is they got really low resolution textures which makes shit look kind of washed out. and most ps3 games run at 720p which is low compared to my 1400x900 resolution.

uncharted and killzone still blow me the fuck away, but nothing fucks with crysis right now and i dont think anything will for the next 2-3 years cuz they keep updating it

oh yeah and pc games can have more shit showing at the same time, better physics, bigger draw distances, etc.

i love my ps3 with all my heart tho, so im not saying anything negative about it, im just saying when it comes to graphics high end computers are the shit

Ye, im not saying Crysis isnt better... but the gap between console and PC isnt that big anymore. I used to say "wow" to some pc games, now i see pc games and I dont think of them as anything that cant be achieved on a console, because looking at recent & future PS3 games (I dont look into xbox games so I dont know their side) its just lookin like there eventually will be no gap between them...

Wonder how much better Crysis 2 will look though...

Its going to come down to developers aswell as the power of the machine though, it looks as though the only Dev for PC that really wants to push the technology is Crytek... but you've got dev teams under Sony like Polyphony Digital, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games & now Insomniac (as of recent) that are all looking to push as far as they can..

Cant wait for KZ3 either

yeah the gaps getting smaller but its probably going to open up again in a year or two, thats usually how it is. put it this way, when most people were fuckin with their xbox and ps2 graphics i was playing half-life 2 and farcry which at the time were fucking godly

edit: at this point it looks like heavy rain is gonna vitrually close the gap completely, when it comes to people at least, idk about environments

nvidia is usually the company that raises the bar with their graphics cards. ati usually falls behind.

idk if u knew this but NVIDIA and ATI are the 2 major graphics card developers. So they usually compete to see who creates the most powerful graphics cards that can create better visuals at better performances.

The Xbox 360 uses a modified ATI X1900 graphics card while PS3 uses a modified NVIDIA 7800GTX
