SCEA dev wanted to make God of War III a FPS

Obviously, the idea didn’t go down too well with Asmussen, which is why the team at SCE Studios Santa Monica plumped for the third person antics we've become accustomed to.

“I tried unsuccessfully to convince [Director] Stig to make ‘God of War III’ a first-person shooter,” said Fieldman. “Kratos could have some truly badass huge weapons that rip gods to shreds. Unfortunately he didn’t see the genius in the idea.”

God of War III will be released exclusively for PlayStation 3 in March 2010.
