Sony has provided more information on its forthcoming motion controller through a press release, featuring details on the controller’s physical specs, and what games are in the pipeline. Sony is touting that the ‘high-precision’ motion sensors in the controller will deliver a new entertainment experience to the PlayStation 3 when combined together with the PlayStation Eye camera.
The new controller is equipped with two motion sensors, three axes gyroscope and three axes accelerometer that can detect the controller’s angle and movement. Coupled with the Eye camera, the motion controller will detect natural and intuitive movements of the hand and reflect the precise movement on to the game. The ball on top of the controller tracks the controller’s position, but it also gives visual feedback to the gamer by changing the color or the illuminating patterns. The controller will also come equipped with a rumble feature. Sony also provided a list of software titles from SCE Worldwide Studios. Motion Controller Titles ---------- Ape Escape (Working Title) Echochrome 2 (Working Title) Eccentric Slider (Working Title) Sing and Draw (Working Title) Champions of Time (Working Title) Motion Party (Working Title) The Shoot (Working Title) Tower (Working Title) PAIN* Flower* Hustle Kings* High Velocity Bowling* EyePet* *Motion control function will be added by network update, etc.

US, September 23, 2009 - Although Sony Computer Entertainment's TGS 2009 Keynote was a snoozer of facts and figures, the company came slamming back at its gaming conference with amazing news about future tiles coming out on PlayStation systems. The biggest news for techies was a playable demonstration of the first real games for the PlayStation Motion Controller. These weren't just tech demos -- these are the first games that will be available using Sony's innovative controller.
Below is a list of games demonstrated or talked about at the event: Resident Evil 5 (Alternative Edition): A brand new version of RE5 with new story elements and also PlayStation Motion Controller gameplay (which seems like it'll play much like the Wii remake of Resident Evil 4.) LittleBigPlanet Motion: We're not sure if this will be a brand new game in the LBP franchise or will instead be a DLC pack, but either way, we're dubbing it LittleBigPlanet Motion and putting it on our most-wanted list right away. It uses the motion controller to interact with the environment. Ape Escape PS3: The game that first showed the promise of Sony's control innovations now sees a reinvention on PlayStation 3. Gone is the DualShock, now comes the PlayStation Motion Controller for a whole new way to play Ape Escape! A brand new Ape Escape had already been announced for PS3 back in 2006, so we're assuming that this motion control innovation is exactly what the designers were waiting for. Echochrome Team Project: An official follow-up from the team. Sing and Draw: Probably plays like it sounds. Players use the camera and microphone and motion control features of the PlayStation Motion Controller / PlayStation Eye to craft their own creations. Machi Suberi: Unknown Japanese title. Champions of Time: Unknown title. Judging by the fact that "Minority Report" is held up as a paradigm of what motion control could be (and by the way, that movie was big on controlling time and history), maybe this game will be that game everybody wants to get their hands virtually on? Motion Party: New title that is probably a Mario Party-type multiplayer game utilizing the PlayStation Motion Controller and PlayStation Eye. The Shoot: Sounds like simply a shooter, probably much like the one demonstrated in Sony's E3 demonstration. Tower: Unknown what this is, but we'll take a flying guess and assume this is a motion-controlled version of Jenga? Also, a number of existing games will be updated to use the controller. PAIN!: aka Mr. Pain. Now you can Ooooch with your own body! Flower: aka Flowery in Japan. One of the best PSN games out there and one of the best demonstrations of the motion controls inside the SixAxis now makes use of the PlayStation Motion Controller for an even more tactile experience. Hustle Kings: The hot-looking PS3 pool/billiards game becomes even more realistic now that you can use the motion controller to line up your shots. High Velocity Bowling: Much like Hustle Kings, this bowling game should get a boost in reality thanks to integration of motion controls. The game already uses the SixAxis controller, but this should work even better. EyePet: It only makes sense that the lovable EyePet will get a PlayStation Motion Controller upgrade, seeing as it is the first killer app being launched for the PlayStation Eye camera (which is integral to the motion control experience.) We don't know what the new motion controls will do to make the game more fun, but we're eager to find out.
