I'm always interested in some good books to read the problem I always have is that walking around barnes and nobles or something like that looking at book covers doesn't really do it for me. So here is a list of books that I've read the past year or two....
William Cooper - Behold a Pale Horse H.G. Wells - The Time Machine Malcolm Gladwell - The Tipping Point Malcolm Gladwell - Blink Barack Obama - Dreams from My Father Alexandre Dumas - The Count Of Monte Cristo Hermann Hesse - Siddhartha << just finished this today... short book, only like 150 pages but reading it really makes you think. Definitely recommend it If you read then post some of the books you've read recently.. and no I'm not really interested in your wu manuel books and shit like that..

Last books i read were Joseph Heller - Catch 22 and George Orwell - 1984. I was thinking about getting The Count of Monte Cristo, but even the abridged version was too long.

Just finished "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess, excellent book, really interesting what he did with language in this book. Before that it was "Hard Times" by Charles Dickens - some people find his work boring, but I found this to be quite brilliant, though it is a slow read. I have a couple of books on deck, and a list of stuff I want to get, but I'll probably get into Puzo's "The Family" next. Though, school's starting soon, so that will just ruin everything

Interesting list JB. Respect for the H.G. Wells book. Good to know you're reading the classics. :P
I'm always reading like three or four books at the time, because I'm quickly bored by one book..which means it takes a lot of time before I'm done with one book (most of the time it takes me months, sometimes a year haha). At the moment I'm reading sporadically from the following books: 'The Shadow of the Sun: My African Life' by Ryszard Kapuscinski - Great book about a Polish journalist travelling through Africa. An account of African politics and life in a span of fourty years. 'The rise and fall of the British Empire' by Lawrence James - I have a real interest in modern imperialism and colonialism. The book is playfully written, but it's a pretty long read nevertheless. 'Woede en tijd' [Anger and time] by Peter Sloterdijk - The author analyses the role the human emotion of anger has played in our history and ultimately what it means in the present. An interesting read, but overall the author seems to try to overcomplicate and overanalyse certain issues, thereby discrediting its one-dimensional view on human history. 'Piracy: A complete history' by Angus Konstam - Not what I expected. I think it's an interesting subject, but the tone is too formal and the text too factual which makes it hard to stimulate the imagination. Last edited by JustAFan; 09-06-2009 at 05:08 PM. |

pfft, I've been bored with hip hop for a minute actually.
I just never make time to read, but I know I'll be doing a lot of it again when I start school soon. Not the biggest fan, but I do love reading in general.

I stopped reading heavy a few years ago, most books are bullshit anyways. You read one book where somone swears what they're saying is fact and has all these documents and proof to prove it then the next day you read another book, saying the exact opposite of the first, but also claiming to have facts and proof and shit. 90% of writers are full of shit
I stick to fiction these days, at best I may read a graphic novel or somthing but actual reading has died long ago for me p.s. just to keep it on topic last book I read that I REALLY liked was like in 5th or 6th grade, it was called Enders Game, sci-fi book but it was amazing. I read the sequels to it which sucks thanks to Card's heavy handed, religious undertones. Then I read Enders Shadow which was equally as amazing but again Scott Card fucked up the sequels, essentially killing any interest had left

anyway... That HG Wells book is just amazing. My friend lent it to me and I read it twice since then. I understand how you get bored with books but I can't go back and forth between books like that.. I usually just stop reading it for a while or never get back to it.

i said i was bored one time and someone handed me a book...
after i said..'fuck is this?' i started to read it its one of those 'self empowerment' type of jawns that tells you how to achieve what you want...apparently theres a film of this too...i guess of stories from actual trials.....w/e but anyway....its called The Secret....the cover looks weak...shits under 200pages...its a good read cuz it makes you think about how you approach your day and certain situations....i dunno....you still couldnt succeed if you mastered the shit tho Justice Blazer
