jay-z is one of the most overrated mc's of all times though. everybody thinks he's top ten value. i think he's not even close. all he does is brag about how good he is. lyrically, he's good, but not great and not original enough either. everybody also always praises his flow, but i don't hear it to be honest. granted, he's above average, but i maintain he's really not that special.

edit: i always get a lot of shit for saying this btw, and i probably will again now (though some of you may remember i was never really that fond of jay's music), but im simply not convinced yet of the opposite.

when the man really sits down and crafts verses he's fantastic. Not to mention his RD shit, Jigga was blowing minds on that. These 2 albums alone gave him a spot in my top 10

Jay Z is top 10 material...he has a catalog that is pretty much unmatched. You could maybe come up with 5 mc's that could challenge it.

jay-z has one of the best flow regardless if he made bullshit records or good records....his flow has changed sooo many times; look at it when he was wit jaz-o and look at him now......dude relies on his flow more than anything thats why he's very popular....he can flip a simple phrase and most basic and make it flow outta control.....i dont consider him top 10 cause his music is not of good quality and he doesnt have a lot of classics

he keeps sayin imma make a classic...the only classics dude has is reasonable doubt....and the other good albums is in my lifetime vol.1, the blueprint....the last two albums are wack.....and also i woundnt say he can pull a bigger sales....i think 50 owns that shit and eminem

thats just 1 which isnt enough in my book.......we know and he knows he sold out......but he is regardless one of the greatest rappers ever; just look at his qualities....not necessarily the top 10, but in top 20 surely

The Black Album was a more complete and more expansive album than even The Blueprint, it's probably the most cohesive LP of his catalog.
