actually eminem is great...really no flaw.....only thing that puts him back from the pack is another classic album...relapse and encore aint that great, which imo doesnt put eminem in the top 10.......only 2 classics doesnt cut it....however, eminem is really good though no lie....he's in my top 20 or 15 fa sho

I like your list but I'll trade Gza for GFK (liquid swords is really the only album that I loved by gza, when I look deeper into his catalog I fall asleep.) and Monch for Joe Budden (I never really took the time out to get into monch, always enjoyed his music just slackin I guess)..... but mine would be scrambled cause I ust don't care that much.

Sidenote...... if Cole Hamels was Pitching like he should the Phillies would be running away with the best record in the NL.

I was actually going to make a thread discussing this very thing but then got bored with it, props for somewhat summing up my thoughts though.

Ace's early shit is dope, without a doubt he made good music, but when he started using the vocal style he is now he just elevated. I cant say he's a lot better as an mc cause honestly he's been pretty consistent throughout his whole career, but just vocally that muh fucka is a lot iller then what he used to be

I think it's hard to say which is better either way, his newer or older material. Personally, I think he sounded more authentic on his older records. I like his flow a lot more on the Slaughtahouse LP for example than on either DA or ALHS.

But on the other hand, his rhymes are still ill and on point on his latest albums plus the beats rock. I also think he did a great job on setting the vibe. I know I made a little rant recently about how skits are useless, but Masta Ace is one of the few mc's whom I think make skits that are functional and entertaining. Functional as in, contributing to the vibe the album gives.

Subject matter wise it is about equal as well in terms of quality if you compare old and new.

My point is, anyway, that I think even though his newer albums differ a lot in style compared to his older ones, I do not think it differs much in quality. But that's me.

I can't really disagree on anything you said there. Those OK albums are ill as fuck. But it still bugs me that it was in a group. I don't know if you remember the skit in Binary Star's album where Onebelo (i think it was him) said something like: "from a distance it looks like one, but in reality they're two mc's revolving around each other". In a certain way I feel like that about OK. Even though the two mc's aren't on the same level, they made it together and without that cooperation there wouldnt be any OK albums.

About LL: I think this is the first time I put him in my top ten. But I think it's well-deserved. His work speaks for itself.
