his producing is dope no doubt.. if i had the money he'd be the first producer i go... his grimy drum lines match my flow pretty well too.
hes underrated as an emcee tho, i think. in songs like fury in my eyes, koto chotan, the birth, build strong. not the most consistent on the lyrical side but he still drops some really good verses now n then.

As a producer: yes one of the greatest
As a rapper: imo the worst rapper in the Clan (not saying he's bad, the rest is just better, except Masta Killa). It always seems to me as if he can't control his voice and flow, sounds so off compared to the other guys

I think it is generally agreed upon he's one of the best producers hip-hop have had, but it's too hard to choose one producer as THE best. It's not like he's head and shoulders above Premier, Pete Rock and Dre for instance. As a rapper I think his flow is pretty weak and at times annoying, but he compensates it by the emotional input in his delivery. It can be fun to listen to, but mostly I can't stand listening to him for an hour straight or something.
