I actually hadnt heard of slain until late 06 but dude is just fucking amazing. I first took notice of him when I copped the classic album 'Special Teamz - Stereotypez', an album I admittedly copped just because it had EDO. G, I had no idea who Slaine or Jaysaun really were at the time. Listening to the album though I couldnt help but take notice of this hungry, gravel voiced mc who was ripping every track he touched, his lyrics were in the same vein as Raekwon or Ill Bill only he did what they never really could, he didnt glamorize coke but instead shared both sides of the coin, celebrating both the highs (no pun) and touching on the lows

After some research I learned that he was down with Ill Bill and was making his rounds with him, having already released 2 street albums, both of which were dope. eventually I caught an Ill Bill show and had a chance to kick it with Slain who, unlike most of the other cats in Necro's crew was actually just a very cool, down to earth guy, just being himself and not trying to push some hardcore image. I make this thread for the sole fact that I know a lot of you will dismiss him stickily based on the company he keeps, after all no one wants to risk suffering through another Mr. Hyde, but please take a chance on dude, he has alot of depth to him and is one of the most gifted lyricist doing it.

anyway, slaine is nice as fuck. i first heard of him when he was on fahrenheit 911 with virtuoso. i think they should do a whole album together personally (with stoupe on the beats), their styles compliment each other perfectly. and lmao @ the mr. hyde comment.

Even though I am quite picky, I'm really not as close minded as I seem. A lot of times I exaggerate my opinion for effect. I've always been a fan of alternative hip-hop and usually keep an open mind so don't be quick to paint me as strictly a boom bap head, although that is my preference of style.

How you ask? I don't know, I simply enjoy it. I also like the Project Polaroid joint from Keith as well, plus many other things I'm sure that would surprise you.

The only thing I really hate and what I truly consider to be nerdy is Aesop, Sage, DOOM, and the rest of Def Jux, Rhyme Sayers, Stones Throw, etc (minus a few heads).

Again, I'm not that close minded, it's really not a shocker.
