major props...

after one listen this is a straight banger. gonna be bumping this for a while, most likely. i think it's so successful is because there's so many guest spots. he can usually rip things up on other people's shit but loses steam on solo releases. he keeps things going on this one because he has so many other people helping him out. although, that song with jim jones and sheek louch is a disgrace - uey rips it apart and then the other two kill any momentum. other than that, and scotty wotty, every guest comes hard.

i'd prolly give this album a 9/10. i honestly don't think Cuban Linx 2 can stand up to this... although there is supposedly a "Verbal Intercourse 2" on there... anyway, thanks for upping this

ok i just peeped this bullshit

some good tracks,some wack tracks......not my thang, im sorry for yall who was thinkin this gonna be one of the best wu releases of this year (not even close).....i was hoping large professor drop some nice rhymes, he does some bullshit add-ons at the end......u got the magnum force that sounds reminiscent of BIZARRE.....i find the track good for some reason, even though its kinda fruity........but overall album is a typical u-god album....so much for the 'im comin harder than before' mentality.....its STRAIGHT U-GOD as always one would expect...........WHAT THE FUCK ARE THOSE REMIXES DOIN AT THE END...IT MAKES THE ALBUM WORSE....those remixes are trash

thats just my opinion....i didnt peep it twice....this is from my initial listen.......and my opinion can change

im just gonna give it a 2.9 out of 5, but it could go a little higher

i don't know how you can dislike this album. i'm on my 5th listen right now and it's still a banger...

"train trussle" is a great opener, which goes into "god is love" which is great because cappadonna actually drops a verse that not only doesn't suck ass, it's also hot!

then "stomp da roach" is a banger, with gza showing why they call him the genius on the third verse. this goes to "lipton" where U-god goes solo on the verses over an upbeat instrumental, and then this mike ladd nigga sings the hook. then "coke," which is a banger for obvious reasons, with slaine somehow eating rae and uey.

then comes the only misstep, "magnum force" in which u-god drops one of his best verses on the album but is surrounded by the lyrical shit that is jim jones and sheek louch.

next is "hips," a clubbish song that leans towards corny but is still dope because uey does his thing on the verses. after that is "wu-tang" in which uey outspits method man, who doesn't spit weak on this one either. after that is the title track, a soulful, slow song, where uey's voice fits the instrumental perfectly as he spits fire.

next is the penultimate track, "rims poking out," a pretty dope track for the summer, in the same vein - mood wise - as "hips," but a little doper.

finally, you got "new classic," a perfect way to end the album. this is straight wu shit, despite the recycled sample.

since '05, you have these albums from the wu-generals: 4:21 - The Day After and Blackout 2from Meth; Made in Brooklyn from Masta Killa; Digi Snacks from RZA; Grandmasters (and the remix album) and Pro Tools from GZA; Fishscale, More Fish and The Big Doe Rehab from Ghostface; and Resident Patient from INS.

Dopium is on the top of that list, second only to Grandmasters IMO (it beats out Fishscale because it has less filler if we exclude those extra shitty remixes).

it's my favorite album of 09 this far. easily. i'm buying multiple copies the day this drops. but now i prolly amped it up too much... i don't know... i think it's hot.

hit me with a few things and i'll def check em. too bad my producer for the new joint doesnt know how to chop shit up like that.

p.s. after spinning the album 5 times my only real problem is U-God has weak hook after weak hook, like I dont remember hearing one good hook on the whole album. the beat for that Jim Jones track was godly though and oddly enough Jimmy did his thing, Sheek even went in on it
