As you all know (or don't) I recently moved from Milwaukee to Chicago. (I was working in Jersey for a few months, but I lived in a hotel, and it was never home, plus I showered after)

Geography-wise, not much of a move. About an hour and a half drive from here to where I used to live. So when my brother let me know that, as a bartender, get got a bunch of free tickets to some Bacardi sponsored Q-Tip show with DJ Scratch, Jazzy Jeff, Free Soul, and others, I figured why not drive up to Milwaukee on a Thursday night and see a free show?

I was always into Tribe, but hadn't really followed any of his solo stuff since then. I always liked his style, but mostly heard him on guest spots (I always loved Can't Hold A Torch from Busta's Big Bang).

So the event was kind of weird. When you walk in, they give you 15 bacardi tokens that you can trade in for a bunch of different swag, like bacardi sweatshirts, hats, chains, t shirts, posters, shit like that.

so in the concert, everyone is all decked out in fucking bacardi gear, and the bacardi people are filming it... but shit, when Tip came on stage, he tore shit up. He did all the old stuff from Tribe, and was doing stuff I haven't really heard but with so much energy, it was hard to even understand how he kept it up.

I mean, I kinda gave Busta a pass for being out of breath and shit on stage cuz he's old... but seeing Q up there rocking non stop, top energy, and doing like breakdancing shit, too... it was insane.

he did like a little speech in the middle of the show about how he wanted some real battles to start up in hip hop again, is sick of people talking or making diss records instead of having actual battles... called out some people by name, but not to diss them, just to say that he wanted to hear them get into some battles because it would be good for hip hop

he's gonna be in the Chi tonight, but the tickets were gone almost immediately... I could see Twista instead, but I don't wanna drop thirty bucks on dude

yeah, one of my boys is opening for twister when he comes here, he invited me to go and meet him but I just kinda lol'd. Tip show sounds dope though, hope I get the chance to see him live someday

yeah, tip was in Milwaukee last night... he will be in Chicago tonight, and then out of the Midwest besides a show in Kentucky and in Ohio... so probably not on this swing
