Be was indeed a classic, and his best album, much more concise, better produced (let's face it) and accessible than Resurrection

Finding Forever not so much, I was almost as high on it at first, but it hasn't aged nearly as well, I generally skip a bunch of tracks on it...still, solid at worst

Universal Mind Control was weak, lyrically cringe-worthy, and not nearly the best of what The Neptunes can do production-wise

and yes, The Roots>>>Common, easily

Talib, maybe lyrically, but he doesn't have the catalog to match up to Comm

even emcee wise, it ain't nearly as one-sided as you might think

lyrically, Comm has frequent moments of corniness, BT is much more consistent when it comes to not wasting bars, and in their past few records, he's shown he can be just as dope as Comm when it comes to conscious shit, story-telling, concepts, etc.

good catch, it was indeed suppose to be "cant" lol

and I do agree that as a whole the Roots and Black Thought are more consistent, but at the same time I feel like thats only because they dont take nearly as many risk...I mean thats to say Black Thought doesnt take risk, the Roots as a whole are always moving on to different sounds, somthing ive always respected, but BT always seems to play it safe. Comm does have moments of being corny but its only when he branch's out and tries different things

I totally disagree with everything here.

And while I liked GT and just about every Roots album, Illadelph is unfuckwitable and their new shit, or any shit can't compare.

Resurrection got no special love from me because I Used to Love H.E.R. was on it, believe me. For others perhaps this is true, but not for me. It was collectively his best shit, which still isn't sayin' much, but meh.

I somewhat agree, and not directed to ILL, but also I feel a lot of people give it more credit than its due simply because it was golden-age Comm before he collaborated with a superstar producer and started to get recognition. It makes it seem like they have more cred if they big-up a relatively more obscure album of his.

I'm not quite sure what you said, but I liked the production on Resurrection more than any other Common album. I'm not saying that it was amazing and he fell off or anything like that, I honestly don't even really enjoy most of his music, but if I had to pick his best album, the feel/tone/mood/sound is better on Resurrection, imo. I remember the Jonas Brothers a while ago saying how they wanted to work with some rappers, and they said Lupe Fiasco, Common, and Mos Def would be good options. Oh well I don't really care for this track, at least Jonas Brothers have a good taste in artists though lol!
