Just got back from the Mr. Lif Show

got there at 7:30, right when I walk in I see Lif yelling at the ticket seller, dude said he tried to contact the club to talk about some issues with the show but no one answered and the message box was full, dude is really small too, like short and skinny, his hair was bigger then him and I noticed his "real" voice is no where near his nerd voice he uses in songs or interviews.

anyways the local DJ does a fucking 45 minute set, dont know wtf was up with that, he spun that new Jigga DOA song though and it was ill, also played some Asher Roth. After him came this dude named Willie Evans jr. sooooo fucking dope, best act of the night, he made beats from random shit right on the spot and spit over them, also flipped the classic video game 'Bionic Commando' in to a beat, he was so ill I would have paid just to see him.

He was followed by some guy with a name I cant remember, some really skinny geeky looking dude who is signed to Mac Lethals label, he wasnt bad but his set was way too long, like a 40 minute set, although his DJ was amazing, playing the guitar/trumpet/keyboard all amazingly. on a side note this drunken girl kept jumping around and bumping in to me, finally she bumps in to this huge body builder looking dude beside me and he spills his drink all over me, I snatch the girl up by the back of her head and tell her to stop fucking around, after a few more choice words she leaves the club with her friend.

Lif came on right after that, did some of his new shit and some Mo Mega stuff, set started off slow, 3 weaker songs in a row, finally though he cracked in to Emergency Rations and I Phantom, the show really took off after that. Oddly enough he did his new stuff in his regular voice, which honestly didnt sound too bad, but then for his older stuff he used his Lif voice, I found it pretty interesting. also brought out Metro from S.A. Smash to do some joints and help out.

overall if you can catch the show def go to it, Willie Evans jr. alone is wort the cash, Lif is just the icing on the cake. Also should mention the best part of the show was some of the B-Boys and Girls set up a break dancing spot right in the middle of the floor and danced all nigh, mostly local cats (a few I went to high school with) ripping it up, also pretty much all Asian.

Keep picking his album up in my local HMV, very nearly bought it last weekend, ended up getting Skepta-Microphone Champion (Some UK Rapper) and Jay-Z The Blueprint

Next time tho, unless i get Jedi Mind Tricks or The Grouch which r the other 2 i keep picking up n putting bak lol

not as much as you would think, he wasnt like bouncing off the walls or being nerdy, he was almost....street I guess in the way he presented himself. Long goatee, really dark shades, hoody, very serious, ect. I expected him to be nerdy and shit but he was just like any other random dude from the block, normal voice and all lol. seemed like a different person to be honest, if it wasnt for the hair I would have called impostor on him
