I know this is the underground section, but I want the opinions of people who visit this section.
I didn't like Encore at all and I think I'm not the only one. In fact, I deleted that album after two listens. I think this one is better, but there don't seem to be any good songs on it at all. It is consistently sub-par in that the beats are lacking, Em's delivery is annoying, his flow and wordplay aren't what it used to be and the subject matter is uncreative and not believable. Like Encore, he used a lame gimmick to profile himself. Em's strong point used to be that he could evolve himself as an MC and stay creative. All his albums have been different, but refreshing and creative. Since Encore, however, he tried to be someone he thought he used to be and it isn't working musically nor creatively. And then the choruses. There is barely a song where he doesn't sing on it. Every single track that is listenable has been made unbearable to listen, because Em decided to sing on the chorus. I don't know what this is anymore, but it has lost it's Hip-Hop sound. Aftermath succeeded in creating a whole new sound by combining rap with lame lyrics and catchy hooks. Who the hell likes listening to this? I want to listen to Role Model. |

I didnt even listen to Encore cuz i recognized his downfall coming on Eminem Show so i thought Encore was gonna be wack...and wow...just from what i heard..it was
...but on this cd/// Hello,Stay Wide Awake,Same Song And Dance,Underground,3AM,Insane(as gay as it is,it shows hes still goddamn crazy) are all songs that point to classic Marshall is there...those are also the best songs IMO i like listening to this cd...and his flow is nice on certain songs I Rap Tap Tap On Ya Door With A Damn A Ratchet A-Tack Tack Tackin A Whore With a Damn Hatchet A Knapsack Packed With 40 Some Xanax's Insanity? Can it be vanity? Where’s the humanity in having a twisted fantasy With an arm and leg amputee Straight jacket with a hundred and eight brackets And a strap that wraps twice around my back Then they latch it Here I sit while I'm caught up in deep thought again Contemplating my next plot again Swallowing a calotapin while I'm noddin in and out the ottoman At the Ramada Inn holding on to the pill bottled then... with a CD called relapse i dunno what exactly you want him to talk about... if anything, this isnt the Eminem i want(circa a lil before SSLP-MMLP)but it shows hes on the right path and i can get with that

Imma drop this until I decide my final veredict. Even when I heard that shit like 3 times already, something doesn't seem to make sense. Its like the album create no reactions to my ears and taste.
But what I was going to say is. If Dr. Dre don't step up his beat game up asap, he gon lose it. Well, lets say judging from the Relapse beats, he lost it. I mean, theres so many stuff going on productiong wise nowadays in hip hop, that we can't afford being stuck in the same repetitive formula. I mean, ain't gon front, classic beats are classic beats, even if its the same 5 second loop over and over, but Dre's shit is starting to get reeal boring and not even bumpable like back in the days.

i think its incredible. there is no arguing with his rhyme schemes, and I'm curious about people saying his flow was wack... which one of the thirty flows he rocked on the twenty song album were wack to you? I think the most annoying one was the machine gun type flow on Hello, besides We Made You. Obviously We Made You is pretty wack, and Crack A Bottle is boring. But the album is a concept album, about the Slim Shady persona as a drug that Eminem has relapsed into. The execution of the concept is done very well, though it leads to an album that has little variety in the way of content.
As for the voice, its such a stupid way to down on the album that I can't believe it. Eminem has used voices on every album, on almost every song. He's rapped like a little kid, an alien, Christopher Reeves, a woman, a southern preacher, Dr. Dre, etc. Its part of what he does. He has a Slim Shady voice, a voice that he uses when he knows he's saying something stupid, a singing voice, a gruff voice he uses sometimes... part of what made him so good back in the day was his ability to use his voice, in the midst of complex rhymes, to advance the story or concept, or to get a laugh. He uses a lot of voices on this album, too. What's new? |

i think the album is done very well, especially with the addition of my darling and careful what you wish for... hes definantly back, and i cant help but be insanely excited about relapse 2, he sed he was on a role in the studio with dre and they came up with 2 hot albums, of course the first album will be the get his name stirring again since its been 5 years, the second album should be without a doubt a classic and 10 times hotter than the first, and the first was good in my opinion.. your never gonna see slim shady lp again.... hes not broke as fuck in the streets nemore, now hes rich, u gotta understand things like that, he def did not fall off, even on encore ppl say he fell off... how? yeah some songs were completely retarded like big weenie n shit but he proves to still have it on the bonus tracks, never enough, etc.. i think puttin dumb songs on encore ruined his legacy, why not just cut the wack ass bullshit from the album and make a shorter album? or just use other hotter material, im sure he had some unreleased shit thats way hotter than just lose it, big weenie, and ass like that, i think it was just poor judgement on the song **********

Album is really dope, Beautiful is one of my favorite tracks I heard in a minute. Only thing is, there's a little TOO much sillyness for me. Ya it's dope and refreshing like I have said before, but it comes to a point where his songs really don't have much depth other than overall entertainment for the ears. Shit like 'Careful What You Wish For' & 'Beautiful' is some of the stuff I wanted to hear more of... although that's 'Eminem' & not 'Slim Shady'.
I dunno, I'm happy to hear some new Em... but it kinda gets tiring after a while to hear all those songs back to back. But I like the album... so it's dope to me.

Songs like Hello, Medicine Ball & Beautiful are dope....but the rest, meh I just feel like I outgrew him, that's my biggest problem with his music at this point. The subject matter makes it have absolutely no replay value. On first listen I'd give it about a 6/10, stricktly because the production is good at times and he can still lyrcally put shit together with the best of em, but again, the shock tracks/shit he spits about Isn't appealing at all. Tracks like Same Song Same Dance show he can still tell a good fucked story, but I just can't get past his content. I won't be hearing it more than a couple times, but that's just me. The skits were a plus

I consider myself to be a huge Eminem fan...but I can't really get into this album. Maybe because I don't give a shit about pills. I expected at least a few serious tracks without a fake accent.
I'm not giving up on him yet. I just don't think this album is all that great. Especially after how long he's been working on it. |

theres a few good tracks....beautiful is my favorite, but there's not to much creativity in the concepts. He's trying to recreate songs he did 10 years ago it seems. He hasn't been able to evolve his style and stay creative.
