whats good people, thought I would drop in for a quick post discussing some new albums.
first up is this ![]() *DOOMS new album is a banger, he rips every track with an energy and hunger I havnt heard since his Zev days. Production is crazy as well, with beats from Dilla, Jake One, Madlib, and DOOM himself you just cant go wrong. Only things holding this back... 1. a Raekwon track with no DOOM, I was kinda dissapointed by that, although honestly hearing Rae over a DOOM beat makes me smile, illness. 2. No new Ghost features, sure DOOM spruced up Angelz with some new drums and a new verse, but damn, no new Ghost? not looking good for an album between the two. 3. Re-used Dilla beats, I gotta agree with ATI on this, its getting VERY old hearing dudes re-use the same DILLA beats, its a shame the unreleased shit went to Illa J, dude cant rap to save his life. 4. lastly, no Kurious verse! he's credited on the track but all he does is talk at the very end! huge letdown. Overall though this is easily the best album of 09 so far. 8/10 ![]() * Probably my biggest let down in years, very very average album. The production from the normally fantastic Statik Selektah feels very bland and rushed, so many sped up vocal samples are used that by the half way point it all start to melt together in to one big mess. Sai himself does his thing for the most part, but he stumbles through his lines a handful of times and never takes the time to correct it, you can tell it was rushed. Overall there is a few ok tracks, but for a 10 track album that just isnt enough, def skip it. 6/10 ![]() * Kurious has a new album coming out (tommorow maybe?) and I thought I would revisit this lost gem. released the same year as Nas's Illmatic and Big L's Lifestylez it was overlooked by most everyone, and while not as good as Illmatic, it def surpasses L's album and many other albums that dropped the same year. the production is handled by the Beatnut, Pete Nice and more and has a very light hearted, fun feel about it, def a feel good vibe to just have fun to. K himself rocks the mic with many different flows and styles, bouncing around to many different subjects and having a great time the whole way, he compliments the production perfectly with his choice of subject matter and flows and shows why he's one of the most slept on mc's of all time, not to mentioned he birthed such classics as "Walk like a Duck" and "Spell is with a J", def one of the most overlooked artist and albums of the 90's. Overall 9/10 p.s. tired of typing so im going to add this... ![]() is actually my favorite Tribe album, even more so then their first two.

I was also underwhelmed by Saigon's album, but really thought DOOM's new stuff was ass. Saigon is pretty bad at dropping love songs, and he has two or three. Honestly, I thought the bonus track was the hottest. As far as DOOM, I kinda got tired of him by the end of the album, especially when it has the 300+ years old Angels (why not used Chinatown Wars?). I'll peep that Kurious drop too--good looks on posting this.

Lol I don't know what he's been up to. Even when he does go to his shows, he just chills in front of the mic and has his voice get eaten by the beats.

How could an album recorded in one day be one of your biggest dissapointment in years? It was above-average, but were you really expecting a lot more?

I was expecting MUCH more, note that the album was recorded in 24 hours, not written and produced, no excuse for how half assed the overall product was, SS must not have been paid for his beats cause he gave Sai all his throw-away ones. Also as it was said before he just isnt talented when it comes to love songs yet he tries multiple times on this shit, nothing about this album lived up to the quality that either of these artist are capable of.

Statik already threw out way too many albums in the last year or two with very solid production, Sai settled for the scraps, surprising, considering he's supposed to have an album filled with beats from the likes of Blaze and 'Ye :/

It was pretty solid, several standout cuts, of course there were a handful of third-rate-Premo attempts that he likes to throw on everything, but I enjoyed it for the most part. Nothing amazing, but a 3.5, I'd say, worth a listen.

I was just glad to hear new Saigon, and knew in advance that it wasn't gonna be like his old shit. It was the first thing he'd dropped since Believe It, I think, which was like two years ago.

I don't think people that have Saigon >>> alll in their sig's opinions should matter but I didn't read it anyway.
I was skipping the sai for other reasons... but you just solidified it for me thanks shyne.

Anyway, here was what I said about the DOOM album in the other thread Quote:
On the Statik/Saigiddy album I think it's a great effort having been put together "in a day" but I'd much rather hear one where they would actually invest time in making it a more cohesive album, it was all over the place. Also, the production ranged from average to good and a couple great beats, expected a little better from Statik... |

The trouble with Saigon is beats. He doesn't suit slow beats and his new mixtape has like 6 or 7 slow beats. On tracks like 'I Warned You' and 'Spit' he does a good job. I need another Warnin Shots or Return of the Yardfather.

Won't even comment on the DOOM part of the post, but I will on that Kurious shit. First of all, dope record, we can agree on that. However, its no way in hell better than L's classic and honestly it never should've even been compared to it, shame on a ******. Oh and btw, L's debut dropped in '95, not in '94 with Illmatic and ACM.

^ Of course RTD dropped in '94. No need to look nothin' up. Keep up with your hip-hop knowledge whiteboy. It's good though, you still get props for givin' ACM praise, but not better than Lifestylez, get AIDS for that comment.
