My Album Sampler…

As some of you know I was working on my album for a while when my partner in rhyme, Sticky finally got home, me and him went right back to work where we left off on our Group album, we been banging it out for about 2 or 3 months now and its almost finished, should be done and out by the end of the year, anyways I thought some of you might be interested to hear what its sounding like so here’s a sampler with some song snippets on it. Expect the first single in about a month, with the second one following maybe a month later, then the actual album.

Nah but on the real, c'mon, Dirty Money Island? You can't try to act like Iowa is hard. But I'm diggin' the flow, no homo. Ya homie is a lil annoying though, no hate.

yeah, you got really nice beats......lyrics were okay.....i guess it looks good based on the album sampler.......i dont know if u can switch up the delivery and flow for the songs......your partner is okay....but i like your style more though

I def have some spots where I switch the flow up, I would say the album is about half and half, one half being my trademark, syllable heavy flow, and the other being new flows ive been working on. Should be plenty of diversity though. and trust me, Sticky's style will grow on you, very gutter dude, the way he hits the beat and keeps the same pattern and rhyme through his whole verse comes across very strong on the songs. anyways good looks on checking it out G, I always look forward to what you have to say.

I hate to do this, but I gotta co-sign that fool Grandmaster....the production seems dope, your rap parts seem solid, I expect you to outshine the other fellow, lol, but only thing that seemed sort of lacking was diversity in terms of delivery, musical style, etc. just keep an eye out to prevent it from becoming too 'samey' in terms of lyrical/musical content...but then again, you explained that half of it was some fresher styles, so that would take care of that...YA DEEG!!!?!11

yezzur, I think people are going to be impressed by all the content and different sounds we fit in to this. The subject matter may not be as diverse as say...a Lupe Fiasco album or anything like that, but it def wont get repetitive and some ill concepts are sprinkled throughout. and trust me, Sticky comes with some heat, it may seem like I have a stronger 'rhyme' style then him, but his lyrics ooz soooo much fucking soul its unbelievable.

p.s. dont forget there was only like 4 or 5 tracks on that sample lol, we're aiming for 14-16 overall and there's no way im going to let it all sound the same.

Just a little thought on the musical tip. I know the beats are 'bangin' and people like that, but I think anybody can have decent beats, even for free, nowadays. But what could happen here, is add a little more to it. Maybe try to include some less syntetic sounds and patterns, something that sounds realer, rawer, something that would even appeal to non 100% hip hop fans. I know people really appreciate that, because I live in a country where Hip Hop is not as mainstream as it is in the US, and most people don't get what the lyrics say, so if the music sounds superior on some more complex and pure shit, your material would have a lot more chances to succeed.
Also I must add, that when musicians focus too much on that kind of 'alternative' production, forget about the lyrics a bit. So figure how succesful and enjoyable would be an album that can bring highly lyrical shit and a deeper sound at the same time.
And I know what I'm talking bout can't be achieved overnight, but I think that shit could draw the line between a lyrical and bangin album (take AOTP for example) and a timeless album that has way more to offer than what the trillion mofuckas trynna make it in rap can bring to the table.
Just think about it, I'm sure you could find dudes that play any type of music and could add fresher sounds to the whole project. Then again, I'm not saying theres something wrong with it, but I know you dedicate almost your whole life to do this shit and I think I speak for most of us here, nothing would feel better than to see you have succesful results on what you put work into.

ps: You know I neva eva write shit as long as this one right here, so at least think about it.

nice drop Mex, I completely agree, and I forgot to mention that....what Deep mentioned about the production is absolutely spot on, down to the AOTP comparison...yes, the beats are very dope, but it would be a nice touch to feature some live instrumentation and some less conventional sounds....obviously with the indie thing, that's easier said than done, but like Deep said, I'm sure there are dope live shit out there on the net that is available to be used...it really does separate a good product from a great one, especially for those listeners who have a real grasp on musical complexity and are fans of production in general

Give him a break... obviously there's going to be room for improvement, but if you tell him you should do this and that, you taint his own creative side into something that's more of yours. I get ya'll posting your opinions and what you think, but as for me... fuck it. Do you Shyne. I'm just waiting to hear your style and what you come up with on your own w/o anyone's input. Especially since this is your first full-length album (if i'm not mistaken)
