Ghostface Not Happy With Wu-Tang

More than a few heads were surprised when Ghostface announced that his new LP on Def Jam would be dropping on December 4th; the same day as the Clan's long awaited 8 Diagrams (and everyone else). According to Miss Info, there is indeed more to the story than just coincidental release dates.

It turns out that Ghost is none too happy with the Wu-Tang Clan, not the individual members, but "the hierarchy." Those named in this hierarchy were Divine, Loud Records and The RZA. He claimed that Steve Rifkin even made some phone calls to get his project pushed back. Ghost explained to MTV:

“I had December 4 for the longest, but the Wu album, brothers was kinda late on doing whatever they were doing and pushed it back … on my date. You can put this in there, I’m not [mad at] all the members. It’s not based on the members, but the hierarchy at Wu-Tang Clan is on some bullshit. They trying to fuck around and make me push my album back and doing all this. But niggas ain’t fucking around or give us money when we did them Wu-Tang tours. The first one, they paid us after a while, but this last one, niggas is holding onto a lot of money. And [they’re] upset based on that. It’s a battle right now…"

There were rumors persisting for months that Ghost hadn't appeared on any songs for the album, but we know that was put to bed when he was featured both leaked songs. But just how much did he participate?

“I got on some of them, a few of them. … Niggas better pay my fucking money. Matter of fact, they can keep the money — just get me out of their life right now.

I'm actually feelin' Ghost on this one and co-signin' JB. Why would he lie about this shit? And weren't we all pissed off about how long the Wu album was taking? It makes sense that they would push it and push it until it landed 'coincidentally' on his date.

It's really a bad move to put both albums on the same day, but the sad thing is their label's marketing plans are horrible. Instead of investing into a 2-for-1 type of shit where you buy a little booklet with both albums for a higher price, they're selling them separately. Or they should somehow work out a partnering promotion or some shit.

too many skits has nothing to do with reflecting the quality of music. Fishscale and More Fish were both hot as fuck, Fishscale only had 1 weak track and More Fish can only be faulted as being marketed as a Ghostface album when it was really a TU album.

That being said all Ghost has to do is drop dope verse's over dope beats and take care of himself. That Wu album will be dope but there's bound to be that 1member who fuckes it all up, as it is its looking like its going to be Raekwon, ive only heard 2 tracks off the album but his shit sucked, his flow just kills the songs for me. Ghost album will be much more consistent then the Wu album, although im sure the good tracks on that Wu shit are going to be classic.

Thats not intirely true. When College Dropout came out almost every critic only complained about the skits. It all just depends weather you like the artist or not and if your looking for something to complain about..
