i didnt think The Darkest Cloud was as good as everyone else, that doesnt make it any less good of an album in the overall scheme of things

ditto for the blueprint, unplugged, and the black album.....most people think those are great albums, just cause a few disagree doesnt mean its fact

Blueprint was corny and wack, Black Album was solid enough for a 3.5, and I do love me an unplugged album, regardless of who it is lol.

I agree that the Blueprint was overrated, but wack? nah, it spawned some DOPE tracks: Renegade, Heart Of The City, Song Cry, Takeover, and even I.Z.Z.O

ok here this is just off the top of my head

*The Ruler's Back - tryd to flip Ricky D's shit but came half correct with weak lyrics

*Girls, Girls, Girls - just an overall wack song

*Jigga That N***a - Another Horrible song

*Hola' Hovito - yet another bad song.

*Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love) - wack wack wack lyrics.

I could break just about any song on that album down and show how weak his lyrics and flow were, he just had overall weak lyrics (except on that lyrical exercise, that was a dope track), the production was the only thing saving this album.

i just find Jay a very talented MC, even if his lyrics arent always top notch

its not like my taste in music is wack, my other fav MC's are Common, Black Thought, and Nas

i think its the fact that Jay has the ability to keep himself entertaining and engaging even when that might not be reflected in the lyrics

not to mention one of the greatest flows ever, compared to the 1 dimensional flow of Va

the fact that him and nas are the only dudes to stay relevant and succesful for this long with critics, mainstreamers, and a lot of hip-hop heads says a lot about their careers

See the problem with Jay is every single album he drops will have 1 or 2 dope tracks that you'll constantly listen too then the rest are just throw away garbage songs, I cant think of 1 Jay album that I can put on and listen to every track straight through. He trys waaaay to hard to please everyone and his albums come out sounding confused and half assed for it.

P.S. You think Jay has a good flow? I always hated his flow, I did like his old flow back when he would rap kinda fast but after that it just seems like he got lazy. also Va has one of the best flows this side of Pharoahe Monch!
