Yesterday I went and saw a concert of Masta Ace

It was pretty sick. It was the second time I've seen MA live, but this time he came to my hometown (Grun represent!). I bought A Long Hot Summer and had the living legend himself autographed it. Apparently, it was also his birthday (today still is as a matter of fact).

Me and a buddy of mine proceded to party on afterwards. We went to the coffeeshop and went high, also visited some pubs and at the end we went to the pizza restaurant where we always go after going out. As we sat there, the whole EMC crew came in (probably to put their teeth in some pizza as well), so we had a chance to congratulate Masta Ace with his birthday and meet him personally.

All in all, a pretty gratifying evening.

Haha, that's ill. You're lucky to have met him. Dude's catolgue has been pretty much flawless. Disposable Arts is one of those records that can I just put in the disc player and let spin. Hearing Ace rap for the first time was what initially got me into the "true school" shit. Prior to my first listening of DA, I was one of those ignorant kids who refused to listen to anything outside of the 106 & Park borders. Artists like Ace, Cormega, Mobb Deep, Redman, Canibus, Ras Kass, Vakill, GZA and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony changed my whole perception of hip-hop. I came to realize how misguided and preposterous the world's mentality that "rap is all money, cash and hoes" really was.

to me they're more than lyrics, they just have that presence that no one has yet to match. I guess you can really say the 'harmony' they bring has never been matched like that. I haven't seen any groups like Bone Thugs ever come up...
