Young Jeezy - Thug Motivation 102: The Inspiration
1. Hypontize (Intro)
Jeezy decides to use the same formula as the one on his debut-album: start off with a heavy-bassed dark beat over which he spits simplistic but motivational rhymes. The chorus ("now I command you niggas to get money") doesn't leave much to the imagination but that does not have to mean it's a bad hook. It's exactly what Jeezy fans expect from the Snowman. 4/5
2. Still on It
This time a more cheerful beat, a catchy beat and impressive wordplay. He puts alot of effort in this song, and it comes out nice. The adlibs fit together perfect with the rhymes. He basically let's the listener now he's "still on that D-boy shit". 4/5
3. U Know What It Is
Most likely one of the best songs on the album. Nice intro by some kinda unknown streetcat who tells Jeezy to stay focused. Jeezy kills every verse, the beat is excellent. The chorus is once again correct. Nothing bad to say about this song. 5/5
4. J.E.E.Z.Y.
The production is once again top notch, but Jeezys shortcomings start to show on this track. This track will quickly bore you. Still very bumpable though. 2,5/5
5. I Luv It
Everybody knows this by now. Great single, great energy, great hook. 4/5
6. Go Getta
In an attempt to re-capture the magic of his duet with Akon, Soul Survivor, Jeezy teams up with Chicago native R. Kelly. Too bad this song is horrible. The beat reminds you of Jennifer Lopez's "get right" looped and the hook is just TOO simple. Even for the Jeezy fan. 2/5
7. 3 A.M.
Timbaland on the beat, what more can I say? Jeezy does his thang and murders it. This is what we want to hear him do. 4/5
8. Realest
Finally a song that really makes you want to hit the gym or just achieve SOMETHING. Energylevel through the roof on this one. Great beat, great delivery. Once again, this is what Jeezy is made for. 4,5/5
9. Streets on Lock
The production is a bit more soulful on this one but overal the track is pretty average. Not bad, not great. Not a skipper but definately not playlist material. 3/5
10. Bury Me a G
Basically the first "emotional" or "deep" song on the album. Inspired by 2pac Jeezy raps about getting killed. It's good, just dont put it on repeat. Intro is maybe annoyingly long. 3,5/5
11. Dreamin'
Second song with a feature on the hook, this time by the lovely Keysha Cole. Beautiful song, Jeezy shows versitality. 4/5
12. What You Talkin' Bout
Obviously a filler. The hook is annoying and it just makes you wonder what the song is about. What is HE talkin' bout?! 2/5
13. Keep It Gangsta
The song had potential but the hook is yet again way to repetitive. Jeezy sounds like Mike Jones on this song, and that's not a good thing. 2/5
14. Mr. 17.5
A filler, nothing special. Beat sounds low budget. Cheap sample. Sounds like they had to do the hook in a hurry, he sure doesn't sound "motivated". 2/5
15. I Got Money
Backed by his bankhead compadre T.I., Jeezy delivers a nice southern combo. If you like T.I. you like this song. 4/5
16. Inspiration (Follow Me)
An attempt to close down the album in a "deep" way, too bad it doesn't has the magic required to do so. 2/5
Overall he kept his promise and didn't go commercial. Jeezy delivered a good sophomore album with certain highs and certain lows. It can't touch Thug Motivation 101 though. I'd give it a 3,5/5
I DO advice you to check this out, it has some good music on it.
skool's out hoes
