- Ill beats
Cons
- Some may find his voice (and lisp) annoying
Bottom Line
One of the dopest albums I've ever heard...COP IT
Full Review
Rise is very unknown in hip hop, whether it be mainstream or the underground, and because he is so unknown he is also slept on like a sofa bed. Rise is the new punchline king! His punchlines can be compared to that of Big L's, except a little more complex and a little less street. He makes funny, clever shit you have to think about. Rise was a part of Apathy and Celph Titled's group The Demigodz and made a few tracks with them before leaving. That is where is best known. It is VERY hard to find songs by him, fortunatly I uped my favorite album by him (FTCTTE) on albumbase (cop it there).
Anyways, about this album, it is probably the most consistent album I've ever heard in my life. If you've seen the shit I post on this site then you know I do anything but overrate, I give credit when it's due, and Rise deserves it. His cleverness, wittyness, and all around flow is simply amazing. The only thing is that I'm not sure this is an actual album, I think it's more of a compilation of all the songs he made at one point. Regardless, its dope with guest appearences by Celph Titled, Wordsworth, Apathy, C-Ray Walz, Esoteric, and more.
Now let me explain my rating system. I am a very tough rater, I will rarely give a 5 or even a 4.5, I will only give it if it truly deserves it and it is truly the epitome of dope. Some raters just give out 5's like they were anything, not me, I give it out to shit that deserves it. Aight, now let's get the rating out of the way...
