The first time I started listening to Rap was when I didn't know there were different genres. To me, everything was just music, and whatever I liked, I liked, and whatever I disliked, I just didn't like. There one type of music though that I liked a lot, let me take y'all back in '98 (7 years old).

My dad had those cassette players (I still have it), and he had a whole bunch of tapes. In those tapes, there were artists such as Nas (Illmatic + It Was Written shit, DMX (It's Dark and Hot in Hell days), and Biggie (Ready To Die + Life AFter Death shit). Those tapes he had, were in fact, my favorite music tapes.

Later on, I would learn that music is divided into genres, and the type of music I liked was Rap/Hip-Hop.

You can basically say that I was a Nas fan my whole life. I got into Underground shit back in the 8th grade... which was like 3 years ago, back in 2004.

Around the time I was introduced to Underground, I started listening to lesser known(when I say lesser known, I mean anything other than that bullshit West-Coast East-Coast beef) old school rappers/groups such as Wu-Tang, Rakim, Juice Crew, Finesse, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Master Ace, A Tribe Called Quest, Fugees, etc.

I been listening to the shit for almost 10 years now, but I started listening to the dopest artists about 3 years ago. Nas, on the other hand, was a dope artist I have always listened to.
