Bernard Hopkins Thinks MMA is a Gay Porno

Light heavyweight contender Bernard Hopkins spoke with BoxingScene.com about the sport of Mixed Martial Arts - and Hopkins held nothing back when he expressed his feelings about the UFC craze. Hopkins told BoxingScene's Bill Emes that grown men should not be watching MMA. He says MMA is not a sport, and compared it to a porno movie. According to Hopkins, he would feel "suspect" [possibly gay] if he bought a ticket to watch MMA.

"Everybody is different. I don't want to watch two grown men wrestling with panties on. I'm from the hood, we don't play that. To me, I'm not buying a ticket to watch two grown men with panties on, sweating, [with] nuts in their face. That's not me. To compare that to boxing is ludicrous. It's a porno. It's an entertainment porno," Hopkins told BoxingScene. "I'm not wrestling a guy with panties on and his nuts in my face, and they call that a sport."

Hopkins would also tell BoxingScene that he wouldn't have a problem if MMA had an audience made up of women, but it bothers him that groups of men could get together to watch MMA events.

"I'm not criticizing people for what kind of entertainment they like. I think most of those people have chains and masks in their closets. There is something out there for everybody. I can understand if 90% of women were going to those things but I can't understand a grown man sitting there with a couple of guys watching two grown men with panties on, sweating. That's just my opinion. It's not a good look," Hopkins said

Face it, the truth is he is an old man, he came up boxing, made a living boxing, loves boxing, loves the sport, made alot of money, and now that he is getting older, he sees the sport he loves, the sport he spent a lifetime in, is falling fast in the mainstream public, and MMA has passed boxing with young men, yeah they can still generate a few big time fights, anything with Floyd or Manny, shit, Floyd vs Manny would be huge, but other than 2 fighters, nobody cares about the rest, HBO has resulted in only doing 3 PPV this year, does Showtime even do PPV anymore?

You dont see bars filled with people to see a reg boxing match, if its not Manny or Floyd.

on tv nobody cares about it, but he sees UFC doing a PPV a month, this year will break all PPV records from the past in year end PPV sales, will do more than boxing and WWE, I heard might do more than them combined.

He sees TUF series on Spike doing 3 mill viewers, 6 mill the other week, doing fight nights that do 2 to 3 million viewers on cable. Seeing arenas 10 to 20k all over the US, UK, Canada etc selling out for MMA shows, other ogs like Strikeforce getting a CBS deal, BFC working with ESPN, HDNet showing Dream and Sengoku events in Japan. UFC video game selling millions of copies, EA now doing an MMA game.

Thats why he is mad, he sees this shit happening and really nothing big going on with boxing.

Boxing is lucky they have Floyd/Manny, and if Manny beats Cotto, they can milk 1 big time, huge event, but really, after that, then what? What does the winner do? Shane isnt a huge draw, who else could they fight that would draw that kind of huge interest? The huge stars HBO tried to develop, Areola, Ortiz, Angulo, they all lost, the one dude is in jail aint he? I am a fan of boxing, and I love MMA, I just think MMA offers alot more, more events, more stars, more great fights, better cards, free fights on Spike, they are exciting, they give the fans a great show, thats why more young men are watching MMA than boxing, and thats what has Hopkins and other boxers pissed off.

That's because boxers don't do things 4 free...they actually make money....

Ufc has a PPV every month sometimes twice so you can't count PPV buys even tho I still doubt ufc is doing better numbers......pacquiao cotto is going 2 shit on ufc 100, ufcs biggest ppv day....shit it barely beat floyd vs JMM

I mean if MMA was nothing, not a sport and gay porno he would have nothing to worry about would they, oh but thats right, more people are watching MMA than boxing, since this year, UFC PPV numbers will be at an all time high, some talk about UFC PPV numbers doing more than boxing and WWE combined. BUt these boxers see nobody gives a flying rats ass about boxing, other than Floyd and Manny, so thats why they feel they have to take shots at MMA. Doesnt seem like anyone gives a shit though, since people still watching MMA, shit, TUF on Spike has been doing 3 million viewers every week, and did 6.1 million on Spike TV a few weeks ago, shit, it would take 2 years worth of boxing on ESPN, (cable), like Spike TV, 2 years worth of boxing on ESPN to average that many viewers.

You dont see bars filled with people to see a reg boxing match, if its not Manny or Floyd. on tv nobody cares about it, but he sees UFC doing a PPV a month, this year will break all PPV records from the past in year end PPV sales, will do more than boxing and WWE, I heard might do more than them combined. He sees TUF series on Spike doing 3 mill viewers, 6 mill the other week, doing fight nights that do 2 to 3 million viewers on cable. Seeing arenas 10 to 20k all over the US, UK, Canada etc selling out for MMA shows, other ogs like Strikeforce getting a CBS deal, BFC working with ESPN, HDNet showing Dream and Sengoku events in Japan. UFC video game selling millions of copies, EA now doing an MMA game. Thats why he is mad, he sees this shit happening and really nothing big going on with boxing. Boxing is lucky they have Floyd/Manny, and if Manny beats Cotto, they can milk 1 big time, huge event, but really, after that, then what? What does the winner do? Shane isnt a huge draw, who else could they fight that would draw that kind of huge interest? The huge stars HBO tried to develop, Areola, Ortiz, Angulo, they all lost, the one dude is in jail aint he? I am a fan of boxing, and I love MMA, I just think MMA offers alot more, more events, more stars, more great fights, better cards, free fights on Spike, they are exciting, they give the fans a great show, thats why more young men are watching MMA than boxing, and thats what has Hopkins and other boxers pissed off.
