Ex-Giant Burress pleads guilty in weapons case [Gets 2 Years]

Burress, the ex-Giants Super Bowl hero, accepted a plea bargain Thursday on gun charges and will serve two years in state prison. He will be sentenced on Sept. 22 and is expected to be jailed that day. That gets the clock running on his jail time and with good behavior he could be out in 20 months. He has tremendous incentive to stay out of prison: Getting out in May of '11 instead of September could mean a chance to play that year or not.
The Daily News reported Sunday that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was going to suspend Burress a minimum of eight games and possibly for the entire 2009 season as he awaited trial, which was not expected until next spring.

Didnt he have a deal that would send him to jail for a few months or something like that and he turned it down? LMAO

because in NY the law here when it comes to guns is no joke

Even as a Browns fan i would like to know. How does shooting yourself in the leg get you 2 years, yet driving drunk and high and killing a man only get you 20 days?

he didnt have a permit for that gun
and in ny the gun laws here r serious
if u get caught with a load weapon it 3-5 years
most people get 3 and no less so in a way Burress lucky
he didnt get another year

and if u kill some1 in ny u aint gettin no 20 days here
ur goin away for awhile

I like to say that Plaxico is done as far as being a player in the NFL. I wonder if it was the same gun Nas was talking about on 'I Gave You Power'?
