A source close to Brett Favre said the quarterback, pending a physical, will sign a contract with the Minnesota Vikings for between $10 million to $12 million, according to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

What a surprise...

No one else besides the Vikings wanted to sign him. He turned them down because he said he was going to stay retired. But in that same statement he said he might come back if someone contacts him again on a certain date.

Which in reality he probably just didn't want to be w/ the Vikes. If I was the head coach or owner I wouldn't sign him. I don't want anyone on my team who doesn't want to be there.

Brett Favre is a fucking idiot and annoying as hell.

I second that about Brett Farve being a washed up idiot. He ruined his so-called reputation he had doing all of this retiring leapfrogging. Right. So he gets to come on the team and still be a starter because he's "The Legendary" Brett Favre. Despite the fact that he was really just too lazy to get off his old ass and participate with a team he "says" he's interested in.

Brett Favre ain't been doing anything spectacular the last few seasons anyways. Don't know why he still gets so much hype. His prime has been over for a long time now. I remember how ESPN and NFL Network kept going crazy over that pass he did against the Seahawks and showing it over and over again. The one where he almost got sacked, stumbled for a second, and threw a shovel pass to Donald Lee.

They kept saying "Only Brett Favre could pull that off". QB's stumble, break tackles, juke, block, and play through injuries every now and then but whenever Brett Favre does it, it's considered one of the greatest plays ever in football and in his history.

And some people act like he's won a Super Bowl every year. When he's only ever won one in his whole career.

I'll really be glad when the time comes that this dumbass officially retires for good.

Hope someone pops him this season and makes him too injured to play anymore.

Just listened to Marcellus Wiley on ESPNEWS suck him off saying that the vikes are now a super bowl contender and is going to be a teacher to the younger players. GTFO. This is the same guy who didn't want to come to training camp because he didn't want to deal with the younger players yet he's been throwing to high school kids in mississippi all summer. Don't forget he has a torn rotator cuff and he's fucking 40. He's not Jerry Rice nor Michael Jordan . I feel bad for the Packer fans who are torn whether or not they still look up to this joke. You're a tool and know very little about the NFL if you think Favre didn't wanna play for the Vikings. He's the only team he wanted to play for and he didn't sign earlier because he didn't wanna go to training camp and he has a rotator cuff tear in his shoulder.

That's the only team that contacted Favre. He said so himself in an interview. I'm just saying why turn them down first and then go back saying you want to sign. I'm sure it wasn't JUST because he didn't want to go to training camp. Only other reasons it could be is for more money or for a spot on a better team.

You're right. It's not like there's any other players in the NFL who are injured and still going to training camp this season.

Hasn't he said he's had this injury for awhile now? Even during his last years w/ the Packs and Jets? He said it's going to get worse every season he plays yet he continues to do the same thing every year. So now you got a washed up, injured QB, trying to get you to the playoffs. As if it wasn't bad enough for the Vikings before...

And from a business look at it, it's unprofessional.

Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels are competing for the starting QB position (each of them knowing one of them gots it locked) and then Favre just decides, "What the hell I'll sign w/ the Vikes now." And he gets to start without going to training camp unlike his team did.

Now pretty much everything they (Jackson & Rosenfels) were competing for is now wasted because there's no way, no matter what, that "The Legend" isn't going to start.

Does Favre improve the Vikings? Absolutely. He makes Rosenfels and Jackson look like little kids. Rosenfels would've won that competition. Jackson was TERRIBLE in the pre-season game and couldn't even complete 50% of his passes.

Im a huge Favre fan but this is getting ridiculous, I thought he said something earlier about not gooing back and being done for good. Favre didnt want to do all the hard stuff, like the conditioning train camp, he just wants to play.

Like I said before Favre hasn't done anything too impressive his last few years. His prime has been over for a while now.

People seem to just remember his prime when he was a great QB and not his recent seasons.

I honestly don't see any improvement.

Peterson and the Vikings defense will continue to carry their team to a playoff contender with or without Favre.

I can hear the fan boys already saying "They're only doing great this year because of Favre."

And don't say you'd be upset, disappointed, or angry if you were Rosenfels knowing you'd have a chance at being a starter.

Everybody here is happy to have him. Don't got shit for QB's, everybody can say fuck him because he didn't go to training camp, but talent and leadership is what the Viks are lookin for. And Favre had some records last year so how is he washed up? He stil throwing better than some quarterbacks.

he only tanked the second half of the year because of his shoulder, which he had off-season surgery on this year. remember his 6 TD game last year? yeah he really sucks. the Vikings don't need much out of their QB, just consistency. Brett gives them that and it opens the game up for Adrian Peterson because teams can't stack 8 or 9 men in the box anymore or Brett will make them pay.

Wow, I'm losing respect for Favre big time...But really, this was the team he wanted to play for...This is why he got mad last year at the Packers for not releasing him, he wanted his choice of signing with the Vikings...I hope the Packers and Aaron Rodgers beat the Vikes twice though...

Damn, some real hatin goin on. I ain't tellin anybody to like him but I will say the season just got way more interesting then if he would of retired. He still throwin better than most QB's in the league. He settin records last year and people say he fell off, come on man. The Viks just became a complete team with him signing, they had trouble sellin out last year. They are worry free now though.

It's easy to throw for 6 TD's when your team relies more on passing because the Jets had a weak running game.

And plus they were playing the Cardinals when they were in a slump.

Lot of QB's threw for 5 TD's with an even run/passing game.

But since it's Favre, and because he threw for 6 it gets blown of proportion.

Might I remind you this is the guy who has the record for Most Interceptions and Most Attempts (which is a really stupid fucking record), Career Playoff Interceptions Thrown, and Career Playoffs Losses As A Starter.

Sure he may have Most Passing Yards by a QB too, but damn, if you're decent (which he USED to be) then it's not that hard to obtain that when you've been in the league FOREVER.

What does it matter? Without a running game it's much harder to have an efficient passing game without elite receivers.
