Lamar Odom will return to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to an NBA source.
Odom will sign a four-year contract, with the fourth year at the Lakers' option. One source with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com the four-year deal is worth $33 million if the Lakers exercise the final year of the contract. Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak declined comment. Odom's agent, Jeff Schwartz, did not return a message immediately. Odom's options, as of Monday, were choosing between an offer from the Lakers or taking one of the multiple proposals from the Miami Heat. Miami had offered Odom as much as it can for a team well over the salary cap: $34 million over five years with an opt-out to return to free agency after the fourth season, according to sources. Odom, who turns 30 in November, has made it clear over the past several months that he has no desire to leave the Lakers. Code:

pretty solid nucleus, they are easily the favorites by far with this.
pre-Odom resigning, according to sportsbook.com, the Lakers were +200 to win the title. So that means they have 2 to 1 odds to win it all. The Cavs have 3 to 1. Boston 5 to 1. Orlando 12 to 1. Spurs 7 to 1. I wouldn't be suprised after this LA jumps to +150 |

I'll like to see the lakers fall flat on their faces but this gives the possibility of Wade leaving Miami a better chance of happening

if Farmar and Bynum can get back on their games LA will definitely be the team to beat.

this NBA offseason has been like an MLB offseason, all best teams got better and the worse just did nothing
Dog fight between LA, Cavs, Boston, Spurs, Magic, Blazers, Denver and then some out of nowhere team like Bobcats/Wizards will get hot, all others just battling for lottery Mediocre teams will have to play phenominal to beat LA, Cavs, Spurs, C's, the only way any of those teams will lose a reg season game is if they beat themselves. Magic have a good roster but imo losing Hedo, Lee, Gortat and Battie for VC, Barnes, Bass - it's a stepback, plus the C's n Cavs offseasn moves were indirectly made to match Orlando's perimeter scheme. Only way LA is losin in the West is if they're injury plagued like Celtics last year, however Phil could sit Bynum and Pau all season and still be in top 4 seed w/ Kobe, Artes and Odom. Will the pressure of not winning it all with so many weapons be their downfall? Who woulda thought LA woulda lost with Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton, Grant, Fox and Fish... |

Anyways, with artest being another weapon on offense, and the number 1 defender on that team, kobes numbers will all go down, but the team will still win hella games....he can rest more on defense, he doesn't have 2 play as hard on offense because gasol odom and artest can create their own shots, bynum is decent at it, so assist may go up, but numbers will go down but a lot of wins.... |
