Yankees Sign Mark Teixeira!!!!!!!!!!

just heard on espn.....yankees get better but spend shit load of money which they couldnt care less about

Free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira has reached agreement with the New York Yankees on an eight-year contract worth more than $170 million, a source involved in the negotiations tells ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

The Yankees swooped in on Teixeira on Tuesday when it was believed the Boston Red Sox or the Washington Nationals were the likeliest of his future employer. The Red Sox's offer was believed to be in the range of $170 million, and the Nationals reached out with an offer perhaps greater than that of Boston.

A team can only sign 3 Type A free agents in one off-season. Teix, CC, and AJ are all Type A free agents..

no they still aren't the best. All 3 of them are unproven big games players.

Boston will probably sign Lowe and trade for another bat. The rotation of Beckett, Dice K, Lowe, Lester, and whoever they get for the 5th spot is still better than the yankees rotation. Boston's payroll will be around 150 million, Yankees, 300. Thats absurd.

I guess they want to buy another world series before George dies seeing all his money t hat he wasted on people like Arod.

Actually according to ESPN, believe it or not, the Yankees payroll last year was 209 mill, as of RIGHT NOW, its at 200 mill. Right now they are under last years payroll. You have to understand, Giambi, Pavano, Mussina, Andy, Abreu, its like 80 mill came off the books, so with these deals, yeah its 423 mill for 3 players, but thats over mad years, so it really works out that they are spending less as of now, but they probably give Andy 12 mill to come back, maybe a few little things, but overall they wont have a much bigger payroll then last year. But why are they killing baseball? Cause they spend money? Does anyone know how to compensation works for signing a arbitrated players since all 3 are Type A free agents they either get a 1st round or sandwich pick and the yanks dont have 3 of those......
