Trick Trick Teams With Kid Rock, Eminem, Dre On New LP
Published Wednesday, September 17, 2008 11:51 AM By Chris Richburg Detroit rapper Trick Trick will make his long-awaited return next month, with the release of his sophomore effort and Koch Records debut, The Villain. The album, which features a veritable who’s who of Detroit rap and appearances by several Hip-Hop luminaries, hits stores on October 28. In addition to Trick Trick, who produced a majority of the tracks, The Villain includes production contributions from Eminem and Dr. Dre, who crafted a total of four songs on the project. Also appearing on the release are Detroit rappers Royce da 5’9, Esham, Guilty Simpson, Eminem, Trick’s brother Diezel and Ice Cube, who guests on the album’s lead single “Let It Fly” alongside Lil’ Jon. The album also features a duet with popular rock/rapper Kid Rock who pops up on the Run-DMC remake “Together Forever” with a posthumous Proof of D12. “I wanted to do what I felt good about, not chase after the times,” Trick said of the album. “Each track is designed for its texture of song, texture of writing. Music is eternal, so I might have a song that is rotten as f***, and there’s a point to it. I’m making a statement. I wanted to make music that I feel good about, to bring some real music back to the game.” The Villain comes three years after the release of his debut album The People vs., which landed at the top of Billboard’s New Artist Chart on its first week out, propelled by the Eminem assisted single “Welcome to Detroit.” Since then, Trick Trick, born Christian Mathis, has kept busy in the world of business, inking an endorsement deal with the Cintron Beverage Group and working with several downtown Detroit nightclubs, including the controversial Plan B. Trick Trick is currently developing a new grape lemonade-flavored energy drink called G-Punch, which will be released through Cintron. He also has an upcoming role in the new movie Cut, Print, touted as the first reality horror movie. Source: allhiphop
