Mr. Carter Feat. Jay-Z – The Carters unite for the second time (Hello Brooklyn being the first). Just Blaze on the beat, Jay-Z passing the torch to his ‘heir’ as he refers to him.

A Milli – The street anthem of the year thus far, this marks the return of Crackhead Weezy rap flow…although it actually works on this track…definitely a standout.

Got Money Feat. T-Pain – For those of you that love the T-Pain audiobox, you will enjoy. Very generic T-Pain collaboration, standard t-pain beat, standard flow….

Comfortable Feat. Babyface – A generic song for the ladies, typical r&b track, kanyeeze on the boards, not a standout, bland chorus.

Phone Home – The return of crackhead weezy, part 2!....weezy takes on the persona of being an alien…and as the title depicts, like ET, the chorus repeats PHONE HOME, weezy!…it’s a bit crazy, but a hard hitting beat from cool & dre, and it actually works.

Dr. Carter – Swizzy on production, a very 90’s esque/biggie type beat…Dr. Weezy attempts to diagnose and treat rappers who lack swag…a real good flow on the track, and the 90’s style beat stands out.

Tie My Hands Feat. Robin Thicke – A rarity for weezy, a song with a message…he talks about his city of New Orleans and post-katrina, losing everything, etc…jay-z did this with Minority Report on Kingdom Come…a smooth track, but a little stale.

Shoot Me Down – A slow hard thumping beat, a slow flow by weezy, with a few quotables.


“I aint kinda hot, I’m sauna,
I sweat money and the bank is my shower,

Haha, and the pistol is my towel…”

Playin With Fire – Heavy beat, crackhead weezy for the third time, a solid track, nothing out of the ordinary here.

Lollipop – Mr. “Call me, so I can make it juicy for ya…” goes T-Pain on ya again, everyone knows this one, and I think a very fitting single to keep his female/mainstream audience…his first #1 billboard hit.

La La Feat. Brisco and Busta Rhymes – David Banner on the beat, if you are into that southern slow drawl type production (I am not so much)…one of two tracks that I have trouble listening through til the end, which is a shame because busta is the last verse.

Nothin On Me Feat Juelz and Fabolous – This is a mixtape song, with recycled verses from Fabolous and Juelz (previous freestyles)…nothing that makes me more upset than songs that were released a year and a half ago that make an official release, especially for someone like weezy who has a 3 trillion song catalogue.

Let the Beat Build – Fantastic production from Kanye, a standout of the entire cd, however, one of Weezy’s verses appears on Tha Draught Part 3 Mixtape, but if you weren’t familiar with it in the first place you’d never know…

Mrs. Officer Feat. Bobby Valentino – possibly the worst rap song ever created, and wyclef is the guilty party behind the boards…cannot believe this made the official release….(insert previously leaked track such as “Gossip” or “I’m Me”)

Misunderstood – Weezy talks over a beat for 9 minutes plus…the second track I simply cannot listen to in its entirety…doesn’t do much for me.
Rating: 1/5



Overall, the most hyped album since Get Rich or Die Tryin’ falls short of a classic, and of the previously stated GRODT. The production was phenomenal, and surprisingly the topics and flows are diverse (not weezy’s usual metaphor after metaphor raspy flow); however, too many missteps (see Mrs. Officer, La La, 3 Peat, Nothin On Me, Misunderstood). Much of the songs that were scheduled to be on the final release leaked around Christmas, including Gossip, which he vehemently performed at the BET Awards last year and would have been a standout on the cd. “I’m Me” had received radio time throughout the first quarter, but also was subject to its early leak. In comparison to other releases this year however, it stands on its own above any and all challengers (Snoop (worst disc of his career), Jay-Z (American Gangster), Lupe, T.I., etc).



Grade: B – B+



First Week Sales Prediction: Weezy does Curtis(660k) numbers, outselling Ursher (who just sold 445k) but falls short of Graduation numbers (900k)…



Next up: G-Unit – Terminate on Sight, The Game – L.A.X., T.I. – Paper Trail…..

sorry but that was def a weak review...best songs on that alb are 3 peat, mr. carter, comfortable, tie my hands, shoot me down & mrs. officer ...got money deserves 0/5, lollipop is a 2/5, a millie is a 3/5 def not a 5/5.

sorry but i dont get how Tie my hands is stale.
Its a breath of fresh air. A nice flow , nice song , nice vocals from robin thicke and well produced from KanYe.
Misunderstood , i'm pretty sure weezy new we would listen to the whole thing once and then other times let the verses finish and turn it off. Its a good beat , much better than Commons version with the same sample.
I have never liked wayne. Never saw the appeal but when i downloaded this CD i liked alot of songs

I understand where you are coming from...i gave lollipop the high rating because of its reception...the more i listen to tie my hands, the more i'd definitely give it a 4 or a 5...good to see a rapper on a real topic.

In my opinion, i would have given jay's cd a similar grade, i didn't see it as the classic that everyone said it was...it didn't have the sticking power of a jay classic like black album or blueprint....

I'm not a HUGE lupe fan, so i don't really get into his music that much....


I gave the B because i didn't want to overly bash the cd on my first listen (wrote this on my first few listens)...generally things are better with time.
