09/09/07 - My Curtis Review (1st Time Review)

50 Cent- "Curtis"

1. Intro (no rating)
I have a little bit of a problem with the intro because it doesn't really match up with the rest of the album. But how are you going to rate an intro that isn't a song? It may lead into "My Gun Go Off" but its not a smooth transition.

2. My Gun Go Off (8/10)
Closest song to Get Rich or Die Tryin material. Beat is serious and 50 goes hard on this track. You can compare this song to "Heat" on GRODT. One of my favorite songs on Curtis. Good way to start the album.

3. Man Down (5/10)
I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a story track but it doesn't cut it as one. The beat is too simplistic and 50 does not flow well over the beat. He isn't really spittin on this track. Its more talking than rapping. Thats why this track gets such a low grade.

4. I'll Still Kill feat Akon (7/10)
Beat is hard. 50 and Akon work very well together and this is a good track. The reason it doesn't get higher is because the songs that Akon did with Young Jeezy and Obie Trice are better than this. Those are the songs that you need to compare to this song and the one with 50 comes in 3rd out of 3.

5. I Get Money (9/10)
This is in my opinion In Da Club Part 2. This is a crazy joint and is currently my ringtone. The beat is bonkers and 50 just goes hard. I like the sample on the chorus and the swagger 50 brings to his verses. Look at all the people tryin to get on this beat. This track is awesome.

6. Come and Go (5/10)
This is supposed to be another one of those braggy type songs, but 50 doesn't really say anything hot with his lyrics. Flow is slightly above average and the beat is below average and the chorus is terrible. Just an average song. It would be aweful if it wasn't for the flow.

7. Ayo Technology feat. Justin Timberlake (8/10)
Great club song. The ladies will love it because they can dance and because its 50 with Justin. Timbaland did it again with the beat and 50 goes hard with his verses. Justin's chorus is good too. Great song to make a single.

8. Follow My Lead feat. Robin Thicke (3/10)
Horrible track. I was expecting something way better than this when I saw it was featuring Robin Thicke. I can't even see females liking this song. It is really bad. Beat is bad because its not a beat that 50 is accustomed to getting on. Chorus that Thicke sings is bad too.

9. Movin On Up (5/10)
I can't exactly put my finger on why I don't like this song. Maybe its the beat or maybe its because 50 pauses in between every single one of his bars. I'm not sure but this track isn't to my liking. Chrous is off too.

10. Straight to the Bank (7/10)
Cool track. Cool beat. 50 spits hard over this beat. Another brag type song. I like it but don't love it enough to give it over a rating of 7.

11. Amusement Park (2/10)
This track is the worst track that 50 has ever made. I know alot of people were very critical of Candy Shop but I liked Candy Shop. Candy Shop was catchy. I see that 50 tried making a Candy Shop Part 2 with this track. But this song is just stupid. Not catchy at all and just plain dumb. I see some people saying its hard to rap about an Amusement Park for a whole song. How does that make the song good? 50 is trying to make a song you'd make love to. This is a song I just laugh at.'

12. Fully Loaded Clip (8/10)
I love when 50's rhymes are grimey like this. Beat is hard, 50 spits hard and grimey. This is the type of song that you expect from 50 cent. Not a perfect track, but it does deserve an 8 rating.

13. Peep Show feat. Eminem (5/10)
Not a bad track but it gets such a low rating because you expect so much more from a track that has 50 and Em on it. I like the beat, but I had the concept of the song. 50 and Em should not be making songs about females, thats not their style. I expected so much more from this.

14. Fire feat. Young Buck and Nicole Scherzinger (6/10)
This is actually one of my favorite tracks on Curtis. It gets such a low rating though because its only 2 minutes and 48 seconds long. Dre made this beat crazy. Beat is sick. 50 spits hard and Nicole on the chorus is nice. But, they should have gave Buck a verse on this instead of just a bridge to make it longer and hotter. Buck would have ripped this beat.

15. All of Me feat. Mary J Blidge (4/10)
Another one of those tracks that I just expected more out of. Beat is really plain to me. Its not a beat that 50 can go hard over and that makes his flow way too simple. The chorus is subpar by Mary's standards too. Just not a good track.

16. Curtis 187 (7/10)
This is a good track. This is something I would expect to hear on an older G-Unit Radio Mixtape. 50 spits gutter on this track. Average beat at best but the way 50 spits on it makes is a good track.

17. Touch the Sky feat. Tony Yayo (6/10)
Good beat and I love the energy that Yayo brings to this track. 50 and Yayo always have good songs together and this track didn't dissappoint. 50 spits hard, Yayo spits hard, its a good track. The only thing that brings this song down is the chorus. Chorus is bad, but the track overcomes the bad chorus because 50 and Yayo both spit.

So I guess I need to average all of the ratings to give it an overall rating. And the rating is...
6/10

This cd is a dissappointment for 50 Cent. I expected alot more than a 6/10 album. Far from a classic. Some songs you can bump, but others are just tracks that I will always skip over.

i think this reveiw is wack. why is everyone hatin on follow my lead. song is sick. you can just chill to it. still will kill is deffinetly better than snitch. touch the sky and man down are dope. all of me should of gotten a higher rating. but i do agree amusement park is 50s worst song ever.

curtis wasnt that bad but what i noticed it was alot like the massacre half hard tracks half club shit but this time it was more club tracks once agian he shoulda called this one C & G ( club and gangsta) but i dont blame 50 for makin all the club tracks and the bitch tracks cuz 50 knows he lost alot of fans and gained alot too but the thing is all the fans he gained are bitches lol
