Since Jay-Z announcement that his 2003 The Black Album would be his final recording, there has been increasing anticipation for his inevitable comeback album. While many have compared Jay's return to the game to the disappointing second comeback attempt by Michael Jordan, Sean Carter reassured fans and critics alike that Kingdom Come would not disappoint. Kingdom Come is a daring effort, coming 3 years after Jay's near-perfect swan-song, but like expected, it is unable to reach the heights of The Black Album.

Kingdom Come begins on a high, featuring a energy-filled Jay, as he flows effortlessly over the Just Blaze laced "Oh My God", the album's first single "Show Me What You Got", and the dark "Kingdom Come". Jay then gets personal on one of the album's best cuts, "Lost Ones" where he delves into his relationships with Dame Dash and Beyonce. After 5 stellar cuts, the album's middle part in lacking in quality, with Jay rhyming alongside out-of-place R&B crooners John Legend and Usher on "Do U Wanna Ride" and "Anything" respectively. Dr. Dre and Swizz Beats later provide hard-hitting backings for "Trouble" and "Dig A Hole", leading into the Ne-Yo assisted "Minority Report", where Dr. Dre's piano-heavy instrumental compliments Hov's narrative based on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Kingdom Come concludes with the long-awaited collaboration between Hov and Chris Martin, and it doesn't fail to impress, as Jay, Martin and Dr. Dre provide the album's most creative and original cut with surprisingly strong unison.

While many will focus on the fact that Kingdom Come fails to match the quality of Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, or even The Black Album, S. Dot's fans will undoubtedly appreciate this well-produced record. In a genre where commercial releases rarely match this level of quality, its easy to forgive Jay for coming back.

-I know alot of you arent feeling this album, but i think the first 5 and last 5 songs are all solid, so my rating falls somewhere between 3.5-4.
-Dont hate unnecissarily

HOVA> Is back!.....i think the beats an rhymes are hot....Kingdom Come, man, shits on games album, game cannot rap, at least jigga man does quick verses and sings his own hooks...oh my god beat is crazy hot, in fact the dre beats are all simple but different for dre....great album hopefully, there will be plenty more from Jay-Z in the future, can only get better.....4/5....

not quite black album, or blueprint but we shouldnt compare, time moves on...u cant re-create, u can only invent.......and no it doesnt feel rushed at all....sounds like he enjoyed making the tracks.....kings back....

first time i heard kingdom come, i think it was kinda shitty.
