The ideology of Communism is to create a Eutopia where there is no hierachy of leadership. There should be no leadership at all after five years or so in the ideal communist society.

The fact Castro has outlived nine US Presidents shows that Cuba isn't a truly communist country, as there is still inequality. Communism sounds like a good idea, but realistically, it will never work, as power corrupts.

Personally, I would rather have a democratic society, as it gives me the chance to achieve. That is the way it should be...reap what you sow.

But we cannot make decisions on Castro. It is only the people who live under his rule can do so. I believe his regime to be corrupt and oppressive, but I have not experienced it so I can not warrant that assumption.

But on the other hand, Cuba is a symbol of freedom from American rule. I believe the US government to be as corrupt, if not even more corrupt, than the Cuban. But because the US are so powerful, they can successfully create anti-Cuban/Communist propaganda, and so influence our thinking.

And why do they create such propaganda? Because communism doesn't fit with the American ideology. The US therefore have no influence, and so become less powerful.

I believe in some of both sides of the argument. I believe the US cannot interfere with a country simply because the regime in question does not benefit the US, but I also believe the Cuban government to be harsh and unhumanitarian.

However, it is up to the people of Cuba to start a revolution. I am under the impression most hate Castro. Just because one boy writes "CASTRO" in his blood on a wall does not show that Castro's regime is correct. Maybe this act is also a result of government propaganda.

You don't think that there is a possibility that this may have been a huge propaganda stunt to show the world Cuba is somewhat free, therefore justifying the regime and allowing it to continue, whilst also ensuring that any attempt to halt such a regime may be unjustified because Cuba is "somewhat free"?

Religion may appear to be free in Cuba, but Cuba is communist, and religion is surpressed in all Communist regimes. If you read up on Marxist ideas, or Althusser's, you will see a pattern emerging in that religion is viewed to be a tool of surpression by which the bourgiouse control the proletariat.
For example, Althusser dubs religion an apparatus of the state (Ideological State Apparatus) as it is a way in which the state controls the masses. One illustration is when Halevey cites the "Spiritual Revolution" of the early 1920's in England, at a time when the Industrial Revolution was taking place.
People were encouraged to take spiritual action as opposed to industrial action (as such economic action would destabilise the position of the powerful) in order to express their anger and discontent, and the membership of the Methodist Church (predominantly a working class membership) sky-rocketed.
A second example is the Peasant Revolution on the 1300's, where peasants fought for their right to buy land from the landlords instead of being extorted and having to pay rent. The Church supported the landowners and not the peasants. This just goes to show how Marxism (and communism, as a development of Marxism) is opposed to religion.

So you see, a truly communist regime cannot allow religion to exist freely as it is contradictory to the fundamental principles of communism and Marxism (to oppose the powerful).



And I don't want to go on record as saying the US is perfect, because it is far from it. But how can you call the oppressed, starving, deprived citizens of Cuba "GREEDY MUTHAFUCKAZ". Shit, you livin' like a King compared to them. Which is exactly why they risk their LIVES to immigrate to the US. If you think you are so hard done by, and they are doing pretty well in Cuba, why don't you go and haul your ass off to Cuba? Because you obviously are a principled person who has NO desire for materialistic gain, evident by you claiming Cubans are greedy muthafuckas...

But you cannot be more wrong. Cuba is a dictatorship. They don't even have the vote. Communism doesn't allow freedom. Even in the 20th Century, when Communsim was spreading rapidly through Eastern Europe, the masses never had a choice to vote for other parties, solely different Communist parties. Czechoslovakia, Hunagry and Poland were the main countries that staged a revolution at this time, and by the 1989, Communism had totally collapsed. So, you see, Communism can never turly survive. The fact that it has in Cuba shows that Castro has an iron stronghold on the country, and there is no freedom, only fear of reprisal.

And my example of Eastern Europe governmental parties goes to show that people do not have freedom as they do not have the vote. You have the right to a vote, they do not, not a true vote. A vote is the first step towards freedom, yet they do not have that.

So since when is it greedy, as a human being, to desire the most basic human right of freedom so much that you are willing to stake everything, including your life, to achieve it?

Think about what you are saying. Do not say things just to be contradictory to others, because you feel they have got one over on you and you need to exact revenge. These people in Cuba are little more than slaves, and you still support Castro?

You are an idiotic fool who deserves to be under the rule of Castro himself. Maybe only then will you realise.
