Default Health Care Reform

Health Care Reform

School me. Is this necessary? Or is this just Obama pushing a socialist agenda?

considering Obama is nowhere near a socialist, probably not the second option.

but yeah, our health care system is fucked. we pay about double what any other country does, and have a shitty health care system that leaves tens of millions of people without any coverage, and many more with bullshit coverage that they pay for but doesn't actually cover anything.

Health care is worldwide problem, but I heard that in US is lot of people without health insurance, because it's too expensive. I guess nobody have the right recipe for it... nowadays.

I guess I´m happy living in Sweden. We have really high taxes, but then we got almost free health care. Like going to the doctor to find out whats wrong with you cost about 12 dollars. And if you are spending the night in hospital, it cost about 8 dollars per night including all. And the medicine is cheap as hell. Usa almost got 3 double prize.
And the only reason we have it this way I think is because of world wars.

^^^We can't do that in the states becaUse then there would be no want for anyone to become a doctor because going to school for so long just to make little money wouldn't be worth it

You better not be uninsured and making this argument. It is more spread the wealth, socialism ideal. Its benefit for the uninsured might not be worth it if it harms more and costs put US closer toward bankruptcy.

There are a lot people who dislike socialized healthcare. Over in Europe, do people like it? How about people that have to get approval from the government for a surgery that they want or need and they have to wait in line or may not ever get it. That does not improve health outcome. And it has a major effect on the economy.

guess what- there isn't a proposal for socialized medicine making any headway in the Congress.

the plans that could pass are not anything near socialized medicine.

and health outcomes DO improve in countries that DO have socialized medicine, even though no one is seriously proposing it here. And its cheaper than our system.

The stupid argument about people having to wait for surgeries doesn't really hold any water anyways- right now they don't GET surgery if they're one of the tens of millions of people without health insurance in the country, and many who DO have insurance have to wait or not get surgery because of an insurance company.

the US will go closer to bankruptcy if we DON'T reform health care costs. they go up every year, and its already the major drain on our economy. We spend more than any other country because we subsidize emergency care instead of preventative care. Its a lot more expensive for give someone a quadruple bypass than it would be to get them checked out at the doctor before it ever happens.

like i said, the health care reform they're talking about isn't a socialist plan- its not a single payer system where the government gives everyone health care like Canada or the UK, or any other civilized nation in the world. Its benefits for EVERYONE, lowering health care costs and increasing competition in the health care marketplace based around providing care instead of denying it to make a profit will absolutely be worth its impact on the economy- which will be to control our health care costs before they destroy our economy further.

Am I right in assuming the insured will pay for the non-insured? That doesn't seem right to me. But if it necessary in helping the economy like you say I will look at it further. And look at all aspects. BTW I was uninsured for a while b/c one of my parents was layed off constantly. I am lucky I did not have any serious problems. Now that I have it, I will try to take advantage. I have not always been into politics.

the US has the best specialized medicine in the world.. anyone who argues this is a fuckin retard. that's why rich people from other countries come here to get medical care. in more socialized countries, the wait can be months or even years before receiving specialized treatment and people die on waiting lists all the time.

yeah, the costs are too high here, but that is mainly because of too much government control.. not too little. back before the government was involved in health care through HMO's, you did not need insurance to go to the doctor for a routine procedure. you could pay out of pocket because doctors actually had incentives to keep their prices low. no one was out in the street begging for health care.

p.s. some of the people who don't have health care, it's by choice so using numbers of uncovered people is misleading.

and if you actually think this plan is going to lower costs in the long run, you're smokin some good shit. it's just going to cause rationing of health care and longer lines.

^^ hey i tech, still think socialized medicine is better?

this baby was born prematurely, needed immediate care and... well, too bad cuz she was born in a country with socialized medicine and they didn't even have enough beds for her.. so they had to take her where? to the united states! why would they do that if the health care system is so great in canada?

what does the father have to say about the care she received in the US?

“I didn’t want her to go [to Buffalo],” he said of Ava’s having to cross the border. “I still don’t like it. But I like where she is. That hospital is amazing. Every nurse, every doctor cares. Even the security guards care about how you feel.”

and as for your assertion that they wouldn't have even gotten treatment if they had been poor in our country.. note that the family was also given free room & board by the ronald mcdonald house because we still have a somewhat capitalist system that encourages charity! none of that happened in canada! so, while our system IS deeply flawed, i will take it over "free" health care any day and the "improvements" you are proposing are just going to make things worse.
