Is it just me or has music, not just rap music, fallen off? Think about the top rappers today and look back in the 90's.
the rappers that made the 90's what it was have gotten older and no one now has stepped up to try and fill the void. example: snoop dogg from gin n juice to sexual seduction wayne, t.i, game, luda, kanye are some of the better "main stream" artists right now. it just feel likes in the 90's there were a lot more quality artists. jay z dmx wu tang 2pac big big pun nas redman ll cool j the lox mobb deep cnn dr.dre busta rhymes cam'ron snoop ice cube blackstar etc...

Hip hop from the 90s seems so much betta than the music that have today, because back then it was all about tellin a story. Artists in the 90s put passion and creativity in there lyrics and songs, somethin a lot of these new artists lack. Which is prolly the reason more and more tracks from the 90s are being sampled now a days. Honestly, (outside T.I., Eminem,Ludacris, and Weezy) I don't believe theres an artists today thats capable of tellin a complete story and lettin there emotions pour through the track. Unless they been mainstream since the 90s.

i was worried to see some of the responses i got from this thread. i am glad ppl agree. its almost as if they (rappers and the industry) learned the formula.
hot single for the radio (doesnt have to even be good, something catchy with a good beat[i remember d/ling "Disco Inferno" when it leaked an everyone thought it was a joke]) + turning it into a ring tone (huge business that we now calculate sales of) + add another 11 or 12 tracks (at now 9.99 or 11.99 to fight off the illegal downloads)= money. money. money <-- you were dead on with it while it lacks all lyrics and background like has been discussed. its sad too because now that the internet is bigger then it was in the 90's its easier to get our hands on stuff we never could have been in the 90s unless u bought a shit load of mixtapes and whatever in the hood. its hard to remember but think back to then, how rare it was to get exclusive shit that was leaked. now u can get on here or another site and download anything from kurtis blow to the in a few weeks ludacris' leaked album could the internet have killed music? or is it because everyone wants to be in movies and tv shows and clothing lines? i am not hating on the hustle..i am just looking to see what everyone thinks
