well there diff kinds of structure....just keep it consitant through out ya verse.........you can have lines longer then usuall as long as they are all like that and u rap em a lil faster....all short and rap them normal......have a structured mix of long and short......i dunno what else....flow is overrated in rap and is probably the easiest thing to do

start with slow beats...write to the beat...don't try to put a prewritten verse to a beat...that's for someone more advanced & comfortable with their flow...stay on the snare while you're starting out. take your time, don't settle for almost on beat...make sure you leave spaces in your verse to breathe until you advance more. If you heed to when writting use symbols to tell you to speed up slow down, pause, or drive through it. MEMORIZE your verses when you're starting out...a lot of ppl just starting out try to read their verses while recording...if you haven't become very comfortable with your audio style, flow, & delivery you aren't goin to sound good at all. This helps...get an artist you like...and a song of theirs you've memorized...turn it down a bit & spit the song a few times. Then try to find the instrumental & try to spit the song by yourself. Then try to write to the beat yourself & spit it. Once you start to feel comfortable with your ability to stay on a beat. record over a beat...you can read your shit if you need to, but make sure the flow is exactly how you want it when you record it...then memorize it so when you play it back you'll be able to hear yourself on the beat & just spit along with yourself...this will help you improve your delivery & your energy/emotion. If you try all this faithfully you'll get it pretty quickly...

Personally, I think West Coast dudes have the best flows in US rap; & they tend to base theirs off jazz & funk. You listen to Snoop's flows, or Breed's flows with a background knowledge of jazz & funk & half the time you'll notice segments came from this song or that song.

now shogun does have a good structure if he spit it over the correct beat........but then you gotta factor in emotion and mic presense, breathe control....keeping a consistent flow.......

i ain't gone lie.........you prob gone suck your first 5-10 audios.......but no matter what anyone says......keep recording....don't stop.....
if you don't let others knock your confidense.......and keep recording regularly....you should slowly improve in flow, mic presense, and emotion.............

Nah, text structure is just that - intended for text. Whenever I would write for audio, the structure would be rather different.

Emotion is not strictly a matter of "flow"; you can write lyrics so that the content & structure conveys emotion in themselves to an extent. But at the end of the day, your personality is the real link to actual "emotion" in "flow". Inflexions & the like are all simple technicalities that, again, can be provided for in the writing stage.
"Mic presence" is somewhat irrelevant to the idea of "flow"; as is maintaining a "consistent flow" - after all, that will simply bore us to tears. You must have switch ups, just as is witnessed in music - then, perhaps you meant maintaining a "consistent flow" in between switch ups.
Breath control is almost a matter consigned to the writing stage too, despite being a natural factor in "flow"; why? Because you make provisions for breathing in the writing stage. Of course, this is based on the assumption that you are rapping while you write.

good advice
if you listen to as much music as some do then you automatically grow another sense as to what kind of flow you should have on a beat

if your just starting i wouldnt suggest this but what i like to do is make minor changes in the flow of a song throughout the duration.

start with something
add something after awhile
change it a little bit.

but emotion i think is not really relavent to this question because emotion can be shown through how you say the words, not in the rythym you say them.

EMOTION IS GOOD THOUGH
and yes meaning is good in a song but you cant just make a song and expect it to be great because it is about a dead person or shit like that (just an example)

Most important is to feel the music that you are writing to.
It's like the beat are waves and you surfing on it ( I dont know if you familiar with surfing)
But point is, if the shit you write dont sound good or makes it uncomfortable for you to spit, you should change it (when you're starting out)
Fact is, the track is your home, you gotta feel comfortable and not force shit out.

But at the end of the day, your personality is the real link to actual "emotion" in "flow". Inflexions & the like are all simple technicalities that, again, can be provided for in the writing stage.
"Mic presence" is somewhat irrelevant to the idea of "flow"; as is maintaining a "consistent flow" - after all, that will simply bore us to tears. You must have switch ups, just as is witnessed in music - then, perhaps you meant maintaining a "consistent flow" in between switch ups.
Breath control is almost a matter consigned to the writing stage too, despite being a natural factor in "flow"; why? Because you make provisions for breathing in the writing stage. Of course, this is based on the assumption that you are rapping while you write.
yes emotion can be place one the words....but if you do not deliver the emotion correctly....it could mess up the whole line....
for instance....

asking a question in your song

"why does she have to do this??"
^now....if you want that to be a frustrated question.....you gotta sound it.............plus you gotta factor in basic speaking skills of having a lil rise in your voice for a question......

if you deliver it without the right emotion....for instance....just applying the basic speaking skill.....then it won't have the full impact that you intented to your listener.................

but some of the shit you said is true............

I don't think I'd consider the altering of your tone or whatnot to indicate a question, necessarily representative of a change in "flow". Pitch, tone, syllabic pressure, yes, but "flow"? No.

The only way the flow changes here is if the rapper consciously decides to do so such as MC Breed on "We Do This" where, for the purpose of the question "Uh, have you seen my bitch?", he completely changes his flow to sound almost like the beginning of a jazz lick, & then slips right back onto the beat,
