wow i didn't expect a perfect list from mtv but damn they really messed up.
first of all eminem had the biggest selling rap album of the year and number 1 single. relapse 2 is coming and in the poll eminem was top but then they let their panel decide which means the poll was a waste of time.

kanye puts out an RnB record, drake hasn't had an official album, jeezy, fabolous and raekwon didn't have anywhere near the success eminem had. 50 cent didnt release an album. this list is a joke.

only reason i cant think of for not ranking eminem is that he is white

Tell me, why did they have the fans vote if it meant nothing? We all saw the list, Em was at the top of the fans list, but completely left off the main list? That means they gave each person a vote, and the fans get a vote, fans vote Em number 1, so everyone at that table left Em off the list, why, cause he doesnt do pop shit like everyone else, doesnt feature on everyone's records, I mean hottest in the game, I mean Em is more relevant than any of those dudes, what a joke. MTV really dropped the ball this time.

They need to change the name of the list to hottest rapper. The fact is, the art of MC'in is not whats hot right now, its about who can stay in rotation on the most hit records and move the most units and be on t.v the most (For the record, I'm totally against that). Alot of the cats on that list barely pass for MC's or ain't mc's period. As for Eminem not bein' on the list, while he sold alot of units and spit some hot bars at Mariah and on Drake's joint, his album was only a few steps up from Encore content wise, but still couldn't hold up against his other albums. Plus, in typical Eminem fashion, he was not all over the industry like Wayne or Jay. The list is accurate, but the title is misleading.
