News Michael Jackson's funeral could top even Princess Diana's send-off

Michael Jackson's funeral will be the showbiz send-off to end them all.

With an estimated 750 million viewers, it could become the most watched television event in history.

Thousands of mourners are expected to line the route of the funeral procession, easily eclipsing the massive crowds of mourners who paid their respects when Elvis Presley died.

But once it is over, the Jacksons could lay their boy to rest in a quiet, private ceremony out of the limelight.

The bereaved family are going for a Princess Diana-style affair - a mass public ceremony, then a private burial.

A source said: "Like Princess Diana the family may opt for private burial.

"There are some who are strongly opposed to the idea of hordes of fans trampling over Michael's grave.

"Like Diana he may be buried somewhere private where only family and close friends can pay their respects.

"But this would only follow a public funeral which would allow hundreds of thousands of fans to be part of a huge outpouring of grief.

"Diana was buried in private after a public service at Westminster Abbey when 750,000 people lined the streets and filled Hyde Park. This is an example the Jackson family may wish to follow."

Lady Diana buried on an island in the grounds of the Spencer family estate, Althorp Park, Northants.

When Michael was asked in 1992 about how he would like his funeral to go, he said: "It's going to be the greatest show on earth. That's what I want. Fireworks and everything."

His funeral procession is likely to draw crowds rivalling the 750,000 that massed for Princess Diana, 36.

Jackson's close celebrity friends are all eager to attend, including Elizabeth Taylor, Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Eddie Murphy, Paris Hilton and Brooke Shields.

Us President Barack Obama is also considering either attending or sending a government representative.

i dont know, it could very much match it, on the TV scale it will anyway, and you have to think the U.S is alot bigger then the u.k, plus there will be 1000's of fans flying from abroad.. i think its gonna bring l.a to a stand still, im going to take part anyway
