Post And I "Quote": Asher Roth, T.I., Rick Ross, Lyor Cohen, Nick Cannon

And I "Quote": Asher Roth, T.I., Rick Ross, Lyor Cohen, Nick Cannon

The magazine industry is suffering, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth reading! Let’s face it- the publication industry is a sinking ship. Am I being too blunt? Maybe. But I’ve always been a sincere advocate of magazines, so there’s a cloud of sorrow brewing in my presence. No worries, because the ones that are barely living are still in grind mode-HARD BODY.

On my way to work today, my boss asked me to examine The Source’s annual Power 30 list and it’s relevance. While paying, I noticed Nick Cannon gracing the cover of GIANT Magazine. Since duckets were low, I opted for just The Source and kept it moving.

After arriving in the office, I saw two more newly released publications; GIANT and OZONE. And then it hit me- “And I Quote”. Why not put together a post full of quotes from a couple of prominent figures in the industry? As stated before, these quotes are deriving from new issues which include Giant, Ozone & The Source. ENJOY!

Asher Roth on being misunderstood in hip hop…

“I know there’s definitely a misconception about me, like I just happen to rap but I’m clueless about the culture. But nah, man, just remember white boys have been into Hip-Hop forever. Yeah, I mean, am I the most knowledgeable? No, but I know my stuff.” [Taken from The Source's June/July 2009 Issue]

Nick Cannon on being perceived in hip hop as corny…..

“The thing that’s crazy to me is that the majority of people see a person that’s likable as corny. It’s me. Everything I’ve ever wanted in my life, my personality has got me that. I’m a drive this corny-ass Phantom to the corny ass bank and cash these corny-ass checks. I love being corny.” [Taken from the July issue of GIANT Magazine]

T.I. on preparing Grand Hustle for his long hiatus….

“I’ve prepared them in many ways. I have left instructions. I have given as much of myself to all of my artists and dedicated time and energies into their projects, just as I would have if I was there. I just had to do it proactively. Like, Young Dro has enough to do what’s necessary to carry the torch while I’m gone. So does MacBoney, Yung L.A. Ricco, 8Ball & MJG. And not to mention, while I’m gone, in a way, I’m still able to call shots. You know, I’m a phone call away.” [Taken from The Source's June/July 2009 Issue]

Rick Ross on STILL not confirming he was a correctional officer…

“Like I said, there’s some things I still won’t discuss about. There’s a lot of things that were going on. Me, I have no concern about having a job or never having a job. If I was fu*ked up tomorrow and couldn’t get a bird, I’d get a job. It’s all about me winning. That’s the thing about being a boss or being independent. You gotta make decisions that feed you. Look through the old OZONE magazines. You took the pictures [of me]. Before I was even in the music business or knew what a royalty check was, I had on $80,000 watches. How’d I get that? Who put me in a position to get that? I won’t tell you that neither. It is what it is. I’ma still get mo money than the average rapper. How? Don’t ask me how. I don’t know either. Why do I live better than these nig*as that just put out two albums? I don’t know why I can do what I can do what I do. You saw my wrapped tour bus outside, right?” [Taken from the June issue of OZONE Magazine]

Lyor Cohen on why he left Def Jam Records…..

“We’d gone from last place to first place and had the most dynamic roster in the business: Kanye, the Killers, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Jon Bon Jovi- it went on and on. They were insanely equipped to run that company without me. I was also very frustrated that old men were making decisions that I didn’t agree with. I wanted to get a position where I could help navigate and restore this industry.” [Taken from the July issue of GIANT Magazine]

Asher loves hip hop, Nick Cannon is STILL corny, T.I.’s well prepared, Rick Ross isn’t friends with the po-po and Lyor is ready to reign down on the parade of an outdated regime in the music business…AND I QUOTE!
Sincerely

Low “Who says magazines are dead?” Key

this is false. Rossy admitted to being a CO on Power 106(105.9) on big boys morning show. I know this because I was listening when he said yes when big boy asked if it was him in the picture.

around 3:30 he asks the question and ross gets a little angry i think
