UPDATE: ONE DAY SALES Eminem's Relapse Now 600-650k

SALES REHAB: Based on very preliminary reports, it would appear that Eminem's Relapse, which hit retail today, will sell somewhere in the mid-500k range, and easily top next week's HITS Album sales chart. If these early figures hold up, that would make it the year's highest-selling debut of the year, giving Jimmy Iovine's Interscope the top two bows of the year, including U2's No Line on the Horizon, which entered at #1 with 480k back in March. (5/19p) May 20, 2009 UPDATE: EM IS SO MONEY: Based on first-day sales, the return of hip-hop icon Eminem after an absence of five years has been a welcome event for record buyers. His new Shady/ Aftermath/Interscope album, Relapse, is on target for the year's best sales debut, with initial reports pegging it at between 600-650k. For the full story, go here. not to downplay waynes a milli in the first week, but that was a different economic time...things just kept gettin worse economically after that release...i'd say compare wayne's album out later this year to relapse as a proper sales comparison.
this very well might end up the highest selling release of the year depending on if the economy makes a fast turn in the 3rd and 4th quarters |
