he Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF) is back. It's an annual event celebrating hip-hop culture and the borough of Brooklyn as a premier cultural destination.
Now entering its fifth year, the BHF has become a staple of summer in NYC. The lineup for the fifth BHF is now falling into place. With less than six weeks out, the BHF '09 is shaping up to be one of city's biggest hip-hop events of the year. This week, the organization announced that Dead Prez, Torae and Marco Polo and host Uncle Ralph McDaniels have been added to the lineup. Torae, who hails from Brooklyn is happy to be part of the festival. "It's an honor to be included in this year's BHF. I've been attending since day one as a fan and now to be part of the line up is amazing. People know I rep Brooklyn to the fullest, so to rock is what's up," he says. Last week, the BHF '09 announced the addition of the legendary DJ Premier to the lineup, his second appearance at the BHF. In 2008, he headlined along with KRS-One and Buckshot. One of the few regrets from 2008 was Premiers shortened set. This will not be a problem in 2009 as Brooklyn Bodega, creators and producers of the Festival, jumped at the opportunity to bring back one of the greatest producers and DJs in Hip-Hop history. Other artists set to perform include Pharoahe Monch, Styles P, Smif-N W-ssun, and J Period. The '09 BHF takes place on June 18th, 19th and 20th. During the festival, there will be a retrospective photo exhibit of the first four years, a kick off party, Family Day, The Main Day, and the Official After Party. Family Day and Main Day are June 20th at Empire Fulton Ferry State Park, 1 Main Street, in DUMBO Brooklyn from 12p.m. - 8 p.m. Source- |
