News Pharrell: "The Neptunes Will Be Making A Return To Rap"

While on-stage at BET's 106 & Park, Pharrell said The Neptunes will be returning to the rap scene.

"We got a lot of new treats," Pharrell told XXL. "I know I've been out doing the Rock N Roll thing, but know that the empire strikes back."

First up will be Clipse's third studio album, Till The Casket Drops, which Pharrell admits to providing a "sizeable amount" of the beats, including the collabo with a certain Harlem rapper.

"The feature with Cam'ron is pretty serious," said Shay, breaking his silence, with Pharrell concurring, "Cam blacks on that."

Explaining why N.E.R.D have been away from his Hip-Hop roots for so long Pharrell said, "If you were to ever go on the road with us, and see 80,000 people jumping at festivals, you'd know that there's room for a Hip-Hop element - but those kids wanna jump," said Pharrell.

"And we're absolutely hooked on it. It's got more steroids in it," he added of the trio's more Rock-oriented sound, adding, "but Hip-Hop is definitely one of the shots."

N.E.R.D released their last album Seeing Sounds in June of 2008. They are currently working on a new album but details are sketchy at the moment.

N.E.R.D. has indeed been hip-hop but they have been a little more Rock-N-Roll the last few years..

But as a whole, including The Neptunes, they've been running hip-hop for a good number of years... To be honest, nobody has been "running" hip-hop like they did a few years ago.. Artists from all genres were craving for their beats, and still do.

"A survey in August 2003 found the Neptunes produced almost 20% of songs played on British radio. A similar survey in the US had them at 43%.[2] This level of radio domination is unprecedented in recent years, and highlights the effect they have had on music and production development in this era."
