Raekwon, Slick Rick, Naughty By Nature, KRS-One, & More Play Free Concerts In NYC Thi

New York’s CityParks Foundation has announced their lineup for free concerts throughout the five boroughs this summer with a long list of old school hip-hop legends set to hit the stage.

Starting this July in the Bronx, hometown residents KRS-One and the Soulsonic Force are set to bless fans in Crotona Park.

In Brooklyn, ’80s feestylist Lisa Lisa is set to play on Tuesday, August 11 in Red Hook, while a week later seminal sample heavyweights DJ Premier and Pete Rock will face off at the same spot. MC Lyte will be coming to Bedford-Stuyvesant’s Von King Park on July 9 and on August 12, Boot Camp soldiers Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun will pay tribute to the classics along with a live band in Crown Heights’ Brower Park.

Slick Rick the Ruler is scheduled to rock the East River Park in Manhattan on July 23. The Sugar Hill Gang are sure to revisit their greatest hits in Queensbridge Park on July 4, while hip-hop forefather Lovebug Starsky is set to keep the party live on July 21.

In Staten Island Wu-Tang rep Raekwon will be rocking the Mahoney Playground on August 12 and seven days later New Jersey natives Naughty By Nature will grace the same stage.

In related news Big Daddy Kane will be playing the Celebrate Brooklyn festival in Prospect Park on August 8 for free as well with a live band.– Elan Mancini
