Civil Beating Case Against Snoop Dogg Begins
Friday (April 24) marked the first day of opening statements in the civil trial against Snoop Dogg by a man claiming to have been on the receiving end of a whooping from the rapper and his crew.
Richard Monroe, Jr., the alleged victim, says he was seriously injured after jumping on stage at a Seattle concert. He is looking for Snoop to pay out $22 million in damages and punitive penalities. According to his lawsuit, Monroe was given permission to join the rapper on stage while he performed his classic hit Gin & Juice. Instead of being embraced, Monroe says Snoop and his entourage beat and robbed him. Snoop was reportedly present in court when a tape of the alleged beating was shown to jurors during opening statements. At press time, the rapper offered on comment on the lawsuit. - By Erin T.
