News 06/13/08 - G Unit "Terminate on Sight" Listening Party, Info On Tracks

I went to the listening event for G Unit's Terminate on Sight at Fight Klub in Midtown Manhattan tonight, and had a great time. The G Unit / thisis50 team had the place decorated with TOS posters, had gift bags with CD samplers, T Shirts, magazines and TOS towels. They also had free food and drinks, vitamin water and champagne. We also got a TOS track sheet with all the song names and producers...everyone was very helpful and friendly.

Right away the DJ started playing joints from the album in between threatening us that we would be checked for "tape recorders." After a little while, Banks and Yayo arrived and Yayo took over as host on the mic and got busy. Heads were nodding to new G Unit joints from Polow the Don, Swizz Beatz, Ky Miller and other new G Unit collaborators. I have to say this is the hardest album I've heard in years.

With hip hop licking on lollipops and crooning through vocoders (Rider pt. 2 doesnt count the hook is about shooting you), it's refreshing to hear an album that's cut from the cloth of the NWA and Ice Cube projects of the late 80s and early 90s. Yayo made it very clear that "Straight Outta Southside" was dedicated to the late Sean Bell, who was gunned down by police in the streets of Queens. The spirited remake of the NWA classic "Straight Outta Compton" starts the album off with no intro, no warning, as if these guys just robbed a bank and snatched you into the getaway car and took off.

Another standout was "You So Tough," produced by Ky Miller; the three MCs from southside trade slick verses and 50 ends it with a bang, questioning certain rappers who seem to easily escape trouble with the law.

A certain smash is Kitty Kat, produced by Polow the Don. The plodding, slurring banger is matched by a catchy back and forth hook with Yayo and a female who doesn't ride for free. Banks verballly lets loose as he does througout the whole album.

Other standout cuts include "The Party Ain't Over," featuring Young Buck who seems to have a few slick words for Lil' Wayne, and "Let it Go" featuring reggae star Mavado.

Overall, Terminate on Sight is filled to the top with bangers and is definitely a worthy follow up to Beg for Mercy. Shouts out to the staff that made the listening session possible, Yayo was a great MC and Banks took the time to walk around and shake all the vistors hands and take pictures.

The question is why do you believe em ? I'm not saying that Banks, 50 and Yayo are lying because they don't usually start the rumours but it's always somebody affiliated with the camp that starts spreading hype rumours like Dre & Jay being on Curtis, Nas & Jay on Banks new album, Em dissing somebody on this one. All bullshit rumours to hype the project.

On page 11 of this review the reviewer said that party ain't over is NOT the same track.
