03/28/08 - Mayweather Causes Hysterics At Wrestlemania Conference

With the biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania, on the horizon, the WWE held it’s final press conference at the Hard Rock Café in New York City’s Time Square. The line stretched down a city block for fans clamoring to see WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, WWE EVP Shane McMahon. WWE Champion Randy Orton, World Heavyweight Champion Edge, Triple H, WWE superstars and Playboy cover models Maria and Ashley and the host of the event Jonathan Coachman. The hordes of media were awaiting, however, the participants of the David and Goliatah’esque battle that pits the best boxer in the world today - Floyd "Money" Mayweather and the biggest athlete (7 foot tall, 400 pounds) in sports, The Big Show.

As the brainchild behind the match, Shane McMahon, explained on the podium his admiration for Floyd Mayweather as a fighter and his desire to work with him, the mere mention of Floyd’s name bought on a strong, steady stream of catcalls. “I don’t know if you can boo on this, but he grew up and still is an enormous WWE fan,” Shane said. “You can’t be booing him on that.” Seeming quite comfortable in his role as the villain, Mayweather drew boos as he promised to break the jaw of his opponent, but drove the crowd into hysterics as he rained $100.00 bills into the audience. “That’s just like Floyd trying to by the affection of people,” said Show of the behavior of his adversary. He then continued to offer, “Everyone is talking about the possibility of Mayweather getting hurt, but no one is concerned about me getting hurt. And there’s a reason.”

Main event participant Hunter Hearst Helmsley reminded all that the event was ideed about wrestling. “To the press corp here to see Floyd Mayweather, I guarantee you that after you see the three-way WWE Title match with me John Cena and Randy Orton, you’ll be back year after year after year.” Falling short of predicting victory Triple H did offer, “This Sunday, WrestleMania, I will fight for the WWE Championship as if my life depends on it; because when it comes to the WWE Championship and WrestleMania, as far as I’m concerned, it does.”

Wrestlemania XXIV will also feature appearances from 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Kim Kardashian, Raven-Symone and John Legend. It takes place live on Sunday, March 30 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL and can be seen live on pay-per-view.

lol yea i aint watched wrestling since i was like 13 and stone cold was fuckin everyone up, but i might just have to tune into this shit, sounds interesting. its all fake and everyone knows it but i just wanna see if fat joe decides to man up and confront 50.
