MIAMI — Charges have been dropped against rapper Trick Daddy over a fight in September at a strip club.

The charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest were dismissed Thursday just before trial was to begin. Prosecutors and the rapper's lawyer reached an agreement that he shouldn't have been arrested and no crime was committed.

Police said the 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Maurice Young, was threatening staff at Tootsie's Cabaret, refused to leave when asked to do so by police and resisted being handcuffed. His lawyer, Jay White, said he was pleased the charges were dropped.

"My client got beat up, taken to the hospital and spent time in jail for being the victim of a crime," White said.

Trick Daddy's albums include "Back by Thug Demand."
