Album Sales 12/25/07 - HDD: Mary J 640k, Alicia 516k, Chris Brown 189k

We know it’s the day the baby Jesus was born, but we figured you’re still interested in the HITS Album Sales chart.

Based on our figures, Josh Groban will once again be #1 this week, with 774k, adding to his total as the year’s top-selling album. That makes it five weeks in a row for those of you counting.

Mary J. Blige’s Geffen release, Growing Pains, will debut at #2, with an impressive 640k in sales.

Alicia Key’s J Records album As I Am and The Eagles are the holiday season's other big winners, with the former at #3, scoring 516k in sales and the latter’s Long Road Out of Eden cranking out another 324k, good for #4.

Disney’s Hannah Montana 2 and High School Musical 2 continue their reign, at #5 and #9, with 286k and 188k, respectively.

EMM’s Now 26 (#6, 239k), Arista Nashville crooner Carrie Underwood’s Carnival Ride (#7, 228k), Jive/ZLG phenom Chris Brown’s Exclusive (#8, 189k) and debuting Atlantic R&B star Jaheim (#10, 185k) will round out this week’s Top 10.

Atlantic rapper Lupe Fiasco appears the other chart newcomer at #15.

Big Machine country crossover teen Taylor Swift (#11), Lyric Street country rockers Rascal Flatts’ Still Feels Good (#12), Pearl Records’ Garth Brooks (#13), Columbia’s Celine Dion (#14), Rhino/Atlantic’s Led Zeppelin hits compilation Mothership (#16), Universal Republic’s Colbie Caillat (#17), American Gramaphone/Fontana’s holiday perennial Mannheim Steamroller (#18), resurgent Island/Mercury Nashville act Sugarland’s Enjoy the Ride and Hollywood Records’ Jonas Brothers (#20) all appear headed over the 100k mark on the briskest sales week of the year.

Only Music thats not selling is the Music that mostly goes on I tunes Rintones, as we all know, Digital Whole album donwloads count in soundscan, but, For Example, I dont know if YOung Joc is dope or not, so i got to I tunes, listen to his album, Pick 1 Good song, if there is any, and Buy 1 song, making lil money for Him and For his record Company....So, when million people do that. its a good money, but None on Soundscan...

Artists need to start reaching out to older generation, FOr example, hate it or love it, song was not a club song or Snap Dance shit, but it was #1 and It reached out to older people and they felt it, coz it was one of the best songs out..

Thats Why One Blood Sold Good, becoz it was kinda Good song for everybody, My dad Likes it, its kinda Raggea Rap and people love it, thats why it sold, But For Example Club SHit like, YOunG Joc and all them flop,...

Rap is a survival Guide now, Some Rappers Put effort and Flop hArd as Fuck(Cham, Twista), SOme rappers Put effort and Break Thru(Bone thugs), Some rappers Make Corny shit and Breakthru Great(Kaney West), SOme artist Put talent and soul into music and Sell (Alicia, Chris Brwn, Akon, Justin)...

Rappers need to start reaching out to older people, by making quality music, like Eminem, Dre, hate the or Love them, Older people liked thier shit, but shit like Young Joc, or Cassidy, or all them dudes, they are kinda Unprofessional....

hope lupe get som descent numbers..by far the hottest rap album out this year!!!

He doesnt have a track with Pharell on his new album, if you actually took time to listen you would realise that. Lupe is one of the best rappers out now, I dont expect you to know that.

I usually agree with what Raskae says but he is way off here, Lupes new album the cool has to be one of the best albums rap albums this year if not thee best. The whole cd is sick no need to even skip any tracks. He is far from a shit artist hes lyrically better the most current rappers right now you should give it a listen
