WASHINGTON – The second half of 2007 begins with a varied buffet of musical sizzle, as some of today’s both rising stars and established artists earned major hardware for music sales, according to the July tally of Gold and Platinum certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Reprise recording artist Michael Bublé is currently on tour to promote his now Gold and Platinum certified album, Call Me Irresponsible. The album features several swing genre redolent modern renditions of old hits along with cover songs by such artists as Eric Clapton and Willie Nelson.

R Kelly multiplied his Gold and Platinum collection with the 2007 Zomba release of Double Up, earning both Gold and Platinum certifications this month. This makes it R Kelly’s ninth certified album, all of which are certified as Platinum or higher.

The success of Amy Winehouse’s torrid debut and smash hit “Rehab” was confirmed when the British solo artist sold more than a million copies of her Universal Records release of Back to Black, earning her a Platinum album certification.

Def Jam recording artist Fabolous proved he’s been up to something – his album From Nothin’ to Somethin’ has sold more than a half million copies and went Gold this month.

Hilary Duff keeps the summer sizzle alive with her new album entitled Dignity on Hollywood records, certifying it Gold.

After their major label debut release of Every Second Counts on Hollywood records, Chicago pop-punk band Plain White T’s brought home their first ever Gold album award by selling more than 500,000 copies. The album features the popular Billboard chart topping hit single ‘Hey There Delilah,’ proving that wherever she is, Delilah is one happy girl.

Bagpipes and mariachi horns is what you can hear while listening to The White Stripes’ latest Warner Brothers release. This Detroit rock duo certified Icky Thump Gold this month.

Will.I.Am. recording artist Fergie continues to churn out chart crushing singles and hit new album sales plateaus. Her latest album, The Duchess, hit the two million mark this month, certifying it double Platinum. In addition to her multi-Platinum certification, she also scored three master Ringtone Gold and Platinum awards this month for her hits ‘Fergalicious,’ ‘London Bridge,’ and ‘Glamorous.’

Rapper and Jive recording artist T-Pain continues to snap off the hits - ‘Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)’ is racking up awards for digital singles and ringtones. The single took home a Gold and Platinum digital single award this month, as well as a triple Platinum master Ringtone award for selling more than 3 million downloads. Make that two drinks, please!

Numerous artists received their first ever master Ringtone award this month including Columbia recording artist Sean Kingston for a million downloads of ‘Beautiful Girls’ as well as Paula De Anda’s ‘Doing Too Much,’ certifying it Gold. In addition, while touring with Beyoncé, Interscope recording artist Robin Thicke received his first ever master Ringtone award for ‘Lost Without You’ certifying it Gold and Platinum.

The RIAA awarded a total of 14 albums, 23 Digital Singles and 27 Mastertones. All certifications are calculated by Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman.

DA fell of the charts aloooong time ago and it had hit 950K .. It's definetly plat in sales/shipments. Geffen jus' refusing 2 help Game's career at all.

RIAA work on units shipped to stores where as SoundScan works on units sold.
so eventho Fab is at 487K it just means that there is at least another 13K in some stores, same wiv R Kelly, eventho he has sold 900K, ther is over 100K CD's in stores that are waitin to be sold
