According to the Hippodrome web site, 50 Cent will perform at the Springfield concert venue this coming Tuesday, September 11.

50 Cent is embroiled in a "feud" with Kanye West. This feud appears to be more a marketing campaign for both camps than anything else. Quoting the AP last month:

50 Cent believes his new album will outsell Kanye West's upcoming disc, and he's betting his solo career on it.

Both 50 Cent and West have albums due out Sept. 11. 50 Cent, who has sold better than West, has been riled by forecasts that sales of West's "Graduation" could rival those for his "Curtis" CD.

"Let's raise the stakes," the 31-year-old rapper told hip-hop Web site SOHH.com in an interview posted Friday. "If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out anymore solo albums."

If you will recall, 50 Cent was sent to anger management counseling and required to make an anti-violence public service announcement following a 2004 incident at the Hippodrome. Quoting a May 2005 article from The Republican:

Three women were injured May 8, 2004 after Jackson, 29, chased after an unidentified fan who apparently threw water at him from the audience in the Hippodrome nightclub.

The charges were continued without a finding for two years after he entered a plea conceding the state had enough evidence to prove he committed the assaults. If he violates the conditions of probation, a judge can give him a sentence on each of the three assault and battery charges of up to 2 and a 1/2 years.
