just picked up this interesting peice of news from the hitsdailydouble website:

TIME PASSAGES: Apparently feeling that life must go on, none of the majors has backed off from releasing priority albums on the first big Tuesday after Labor Day week, which happens to fall on 9/11 this year. Of particular interest on the coming Super Tuesday is the intra-corporate battle between IDJ, which has a Kanye West album coming, and Interscope, whose 50 Cent release bumps to the same date. The initial order on each is about 1.2 million, with Sony BMG Nashville’s Kenny Chesney at just south of 1 million. (/8/10a)

So 50 cent has already shipped platinum (already outselling game a month before the release date lol), as has kanye west good news for both of them

Would be cool if they had the exact same sales numbers. I guess this Kanye vs. 50 Cent hysteria was a big boost for both of them.

And another artists selling nearly 1 million the first week is crazy too (that Garth Brooks guy).. Never seen 3 artists debut around 1 million at the same time.
