Pontiac's rakish G8 performance sedan won't hit dealerships until early 2008, but rapper 50 Cent is so enamored of the 362-horsepower rear-drive model that it plays a supporting role in his new video for "Amusement Park."
50 Cent originally was smitten by Pontiac's 252-horsepower G6 GXP coupe -- which goes on sale late this summer -- when he saw it at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January, Pontiac spokeswoman Debbie Frakes said. Advertisement "He wanted it in his video," for the first single for his upcoming CD "Curtis," Frakes said. Once the Queens-born rapper got a look at the G8, also at the show, the video became a Pontiac double feature, with 50 posed in front of the cars and scantily clad models draped across their hoods and caressing the Pontiac badge. Despite Web reports to the contrary, Frakes said GM didn't pay a penny -- not even 50 cents -- for the prime placement.
